January 18, 200620 yr I just upgraded my old Maxtor 80GB (IDE) with a 300 GB Seagate (SATA). No other hardware has changed. I used the included Seagate cloning software, and all seems to be successful.Except for FS9. I won't go past the boot screen. I really don't want to re-install, but will if I have to. I figure it's possible one of my addons is causing the problem?Anyone know a fix short of a complete re-install?If helpful, I have the following installed:DF Baron and BonanzaFS Genesis terrain (the old freeware)Aeroworx B200RealityXP FLT and GNS530A few other payware and freeware goodies I can't think of right now . . . Thanks in advance!

While the best bet is to go ahead and re-install everything, you could try registry cleaning software (like TweakNow's RegCleaner) and see it it can spot major errors.Generally, data (like your personal files and such, can be "cloned" okay, but programs rely on the windows registry so much that they don't always transfer well. We've been promised a registry-free OS from Microsoft for awhile now, but the legacy of this database is powerful and the registry may be with us for a while to come. January 18, 200620 yr Hi Crimguy,Are you using Windows XP? Has much as I know the problem resides on the HD type change from IDE to SATA, Windows XP is more demanding concerning this changes, if you were cloning from IDE to IDE or SATA to SATA probably you wouldn't have problems. Also try using NORTON GHOST instead to create an Image of your 80 GB IDE drive and than deploy it to your 300 GB SATA drive it might work, but as I said the problem should be different types of HD!!RegardsALG Antonio Lapa Gomes LPPT - LIS / PORTUGAL http://www.airsimmer.com/pic/et_1.png
January 18, 200620 yr Reinstalling DirectX will usually fix the hung-at-the-splash-screen problem.
