Anybody having internet problems (Google)?

Featured Replies

For the last two days, my internet access has been a bit strange.Google is my default browser page, and it will not respond at all. Some sites will not come up at all either, for example other forums, underground weather, USA today etc.Other sites work, but are extremely slow. For example some other forums, flight simulator payware sites, USA today, etc.I don't think it is my high speed cable supplier as some other browsers and sites respond instantly. I went back to the MS default browser under internet properties and it comes up with no problem. This Avsim site as well as many others show no problem and respond with speed.I speculate upon the MS takeover of Google, the fact that it occured on the first of the month, and other things but really don't have a clue. Possibly, are primary related servers down or having problems?Anybody else seeing this or have any ideas? Thanks:RTH

Hello All:I did check/remove all spyware and check for Viruses. Everything was alright.Apparently the trouble was locally with my High Speed Cable supplier. I have done nothing to correct the situation, and everything came back on line about an hour ago. I didn't know that you could get only partial failure to specific sites, and everything else could work without problems. Every other time I have had supplier problems, I lost everything. Thanks everybody:RTH

Afraid this problem has returned, and is occuring for the third day in a row now.No other sites seem to be a problem. Going to the MS Default, I can do a search for Google, and none of the Google links will come up for me at the moment (well, none of a multiple number I tried anyway). Is it possible that my cable provider could be having problems with only Google and everybody else would be fine?Searching for Google problems I do find that some others are having similar problems, but don't know for sure that they are mine.Anybody else having, or ever had this problem? Thanks:RTH

This kind of thing happen all the time. It's not at all uncommon for a provider to have trouble with access to just one or a handful of sites. Or, it could be a MS issue of you are using their site. Have you talked to the cable company? What happens when you go to google.com directly?DougEdited because I can't spel

I heard today some major internet sites (No names specified) in the past few weeks have been attacked with distributed denial of service types of attacks. Most likely this is probably the cause as these types of attacks tend to clog up the pipeline. As always, keep your firewall up and your virus and spyware removal software up to date and active.

Thanks

Found a solution thanks to the advice of IAN on another forum.Turned off my computer, Unplugged my modem and router and went to get a cup of coffee. Waited a few minutes, cranked everything back up and google connected immediately.I have found that this was a cure when I lost the internet completely at times in the past (Cable Company Problems), but never dreamed that it could happen to a single site and everything else (that I knew about) worked.I have found that one cannot be too quick to reconnect. In this case I left everything off for about ten mins. Some units have reset buttons for the modem or router. Wish mine did.Hope this helps somebody else:RTH
