New controller purchase

Featured Replies

I am considering the purchase of a new controller. I am somewhat new to simming (4 months) and am hooked. Currently I have a Logitech attack 3. It works but I think that I want to step up to something more. I don't want to brake the bank so $100 is my limit. I looked at both the saitek X45 and X52. I know that there are better controllers but I don't think that I would not feel confortable spending more than that right now. I was wondering if anybody here has used either and what are your thoughts?

I think for $100 you could get the CH Yoke LE edition.LE meaning no prop or mixture control only throttle. For $129 ish you can get the full blown CH Yoke.Far better than any joystick IMHO.Glenn

I'm using the X45 and it's great. Loads of switches and a great config tool, so you're hands will rarely leave the stick/throttle anymore. Great quality, too. If you don't need the feel of a yoke this is probably the best choice.I'd stay clear of the X52 though. All it offers over the X45 as far as I have seen is more annoying lights and some fancy but unnecessary display on the throttle. I'd rather go for the X45 and maybe keep the money you'll save to buy some rudder pedals later. ;)Regards,http://www.bremmekamp.com/img/misc/avsim.jpg

Thanks for the help. I found the X45 for 40 at a local store and I really don't want to have to use the keybaord anymore than I need to. However it would be nice to have the level of realsim that a yoke offers. I will probably go for the X45 due to price and buttons.

If you look around, you can find the CH Yoke Pro (full up) for ~$100 or so with free shipping at Amazon. On my site (click on the link below and see Recommended Products), it's listed at $99.74 today. Same price for the pedals! Price changes all the time, but always comes back down.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

What a good spot. Shame those nice people at Amazon won`t ship it outside of the US...Curses - US$99 = NZ$148. Over here you pay NZ$240 for it. Oh well, such is life.

I think CH Products will ship INTL from there website store.$129 US (+ duty I suppose!)Glenn
