Craig,I was really considering an upgrade myself (I have an AGP mobo), but I have decided to wait for FSX, DirectX 10 hardware & Vista. My 3500+ A64 is doing ok, so I am considering an X800XL ($200) to replace my 9800 Pro. That should keep me going until the new DX10 hardware arrives. Maybe worth considering before dropping the $1500 is the new AMD AM2 mobos and CPU's and of course Intel Conroe is just around the corner. If you believe the hype, its an FX-60 killer. It all depends on your current rig of course......Glenn

Had some more info in my other thread...I currently have a Dell XPS with a P4 3.0 ghz. The PC is over three years old and is getting time to replace. One of the case fans went the other day. It might not be the optimal time to upgrade, but I'd like to get rid of this PC soon. I really want a great rig for FS2004. I know FSX comes out soon, but I will probably stay with 2004 for awhile. It may sound silly, but I have so many addons that I plan to hold off on FSX for a bit. I upgraded my video card to the X800 XL and it works quite well.

Maybe an x2 3800+ CPU instead? Also take a look at Enermax Liberty series modular power supplies. Only know from looking at their web site, but look interesting to me at least.scott s..

Here is the final parts list (hopefully). How did I do? -Is this memory ok? It shows on the Asus mobo manual as a qualified vendor-Should I choose the Atapi/E-IDE DVD burner and drive over regular IDE? I couldn't remember the difference or what would fit on the board?-Are any other power supplies recommended?-I don't plan on running RAID in the drives, just having two drives for use. It was more expensive to buy one big one. They aren't that expensive so I can always swap out later.-Any other recommended video cards? I was thinking of moving up to the 7900 GTX, but the price difference is huge. I figure I'll probably be upgrading the card every year anyway. The GT should be fine for what I do now.-Is it worth it to get warranties on some of the bigger parts?Mobo 1 year: $29.99Mobo 2 year: $39.99Processor 1 year: $39.99Processor 2 year: $59.99Video card 1 year: $39.99etc...Parts for new PC:ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 MoBo ($158.99)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131540--------------AMD Athlon 64 4000+ ($336.00)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103529--------------CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model Twinx2048-3200c2 ($188)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16820145574--------------Antec P180 case ($119.99)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129154--------------BFG Tech 7900 GT ($319)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814143048--------------<2 x> Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM ($179.98 for both)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144701--------------LITE-ON 16X DVD

Hi,I would get XP Home.I would not get the warranties. The processor is covered for 3 by AMD.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Thanks everyone for the info! Yeah the warranties seem unnecessary. The manufacturer one seems ok. I need XP Pro for work so I can connect into my PC at work, otherwise it wouldn't be needed. That reminds me, I should make them pay for that. Maybe they will help with a video card too :)
