As far as FS204 goes I doubt that you'll see much, if any, difference at all. Maybe a couple of FPS here and there, but all-in-all everything is going to look and feel pretty much the same. Doug

Your current specs are great for FS9. I did the upgrade from p4 3.0 with a ATIx850xtpe to a p4 3.73EE 1066 FSB and a ATIx1800xt. I do see a little improvement in FPS, but nothing that can justify the money it cost.I can recommend Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP 20" lcd monitor, its cheap now and running FS9 on it in 1600*1200 is pure joy for the eye.

I concur with not bothering with this micro upgrade. As to no warranty with a new item, I suggest you steer clear of that vendor.Gary

Please don't tell me that! what are your system specs? i just ordered a new p4 3.4 northwood and a another gig of corsair twinx pc3200 400mhz dual channel and 2 weeks ago droped 415 on a new x850xt pe.That card made a big difference over the 9800xt i was running. You didn't mention whether you >got the 3.2 or 3.4 but...I did wipe FS completely. same thing. stock cessna (VC or no VC no change) gives me 22-27 at ksea, no traffic, autogen to very dense and scenery to maximum. other GA addons (carenado) follow suit with no problem. as soon as i try some complex planes, well the thing goes south. pmdg gives me an astounding 11-12fps while the 767 gets me to 8. everything stock so far. then i added back my FE, GE, and AS. no change at all (DXT in AS options). odd. i increased the AA and other filtering to at least 8x each.. no change... i tried 16x.. a little drop but nothing that hints of a limit on my GFX. finally i dumped in ultimate traffic. at 100% it takes a huge chunk out of performance but betwteen 0 and 80 there is virtually no change. so i keep it at 80. i run the sim at 1600x1200/32 but any other resolution yields no change. VC eats little to no frames either (about 2 depending on plane). -P4P800-E D-p4 3.2e 800fsb, on the 478 interface (running @ ~3.6 1000% stable). but i've pushed it up to 3.8 with no gains. stock is the same story (for FS at least)-1.5gb kingston ram (i've tried more/less/different types no change)-bfg 7800gs, AGP-old sound blaster live card (like that matters)it appears that my interim pre DX10 system is a bust. at least i can play fear with all the candy if nothing else. blaster, from what i've heard the northwood should give you better gains than the prescott. i am too broke to try it out now so i won't bother but that's what people who supposedly compared them say. the only improvement that i can say i saw was that at major airports, although fps are still single digits depending on aircraft, they are stable.. no stutters or much of variation. sighi'll try to run some system benchmarks later on and see if those could tell me something i am missing

gyrate,Sounds like you've done eveything you can . FS is a bear, and apparently some of the add-ons are too. I've only got UT, and minimal use of that (haven't played with it though with the new card), and BEV Summer, which is a 0 FPS hit.As far as FPS goes, yeah, the new rig is locked @ 30 now, may go to 35. Still trying to decode what all the nVidia CP settings do ;-) I'd rather lose add-on stuff if it was costing me the FPS hits you're taking...high FPS for me is essential on final/landing. My personal site, exmixer *dot* kom (too many bots out there ;-)) has some bench and other utilities that you may or may not already have, and some screenies.Hope you have better luck with the next upgrade...Best,jb

i am speechless right now.. following an active sky thread i rolled back to some 2005 drivers and ran a quick GPU benchmark test. my eyes fell out when i noticed a 15% 2d improvement and a whopping holy grain ~50% in the 3d tests.i just fired FS and took a few turns around my home airport with the biggest frame hogs i have in my hangar. i am extatic! my performance went up 100-120% in game!!!! you know those 8fps i was talking about? make that 15-22, usually sitting at 18. that's amazing (all in the VC. 2d is like 25-30!). time to enjoy FS in a whole new dimmension. (All game sliders to max, except visibility, 1600x @ 32 bit, 8x AA, 16X ani, anti blur fs9.cfg edits - virtually no blur, bunch of addons in the background etc) and that's what i get. just like i was supposed to. stupid nvidia. making me pull my hair out. sigh.. i doubt the 3d alone was causing the hog. the mere reason that before no settings had any actual FPS effect backs that up. something just wasn't rendering properly in fs in particular, since i saw a gain in all my other games. happy memorial weekend yall :))
