Cannot eject disk 1 during installation

Featured Replies

Just as I was about to hit post on my original post, I thought of another idea to fix the problem, and it worked.....This is my 2nd attempt at installing FSX.... Both times, it didn't unlock the dvd drive so I could not eject disk 1 to insert disk 2. Froze up windows when I tried right-clicking on the dvd drive and clicking the eject there.... Reboot, delete FSX directory after checking that it was not yet available in the start menu or add/remove programs, try again, same problem.....Had a post ready to submit asking for help, when I think, would disk 2 work in my other dvd drive.... Insert disk 2 into my older dvd drive, and now installation continues.... Weird, but at least it's working again..... :(Anyone else have this kind of issue?edit: And now it's prompting me for disk 2 again, with disk 2 in the old dvd and disk 1 still stuck in the newer one.....So, I guess I'm stuck.....Attempt number 3, trying entirely from the old drive....

I had a similar problem with my DVD drive a while ago. I found that updating the device driver fixed the problem.Hope this helps.Mike.

The "broken" drive is an NEC ND-3550A dvd-rw, the older drive is a Plextor PX-708A dvd-rw (Don't ask why I have 2 dvd-rw's, just worked out that way in the course of upgrades... :()..Installing it entirely from the Plextor drive worked almost perfect--it went to completion, but "forgot" to install a bunch of required files, including most of the files in the main FSX directory (but a repair from the add/remove programs fixed that...).First time I've ever had that kind of problem with either drive..... But it's working now, albeit at abysmal framerates and several minutes loading time.....
