October 20, 200619 yr Now that 19 and 21" LCD monitors are becoming almost the norm for some FS users, what is the biggest LCD that can be used for FS that will be sharp and the right aspect ratio (that wont contort the round gauges in 2d panel)?I want to display the whole image, not just external visuals (panel and all) and clarity is a big issue with this project. I am not entirely opposed to wide screen format, but i realize that the 2d panels dont look too hot. Thanks for the info, as I have no clue how to choose aspect ratio.Eric
October 20, 200619 yr You are after 4:3 ratio, which means if you divide the rated horizontal resolution by the vertical resolution, you should get an answer of 1.3333333. eg. 1600 / 1200 = 1.3333The other way to look at it is the vertical resolution should 3/4 (ie. 0.75) of the horizontal resolution. eg. 1600 x 0.75 = 1200.Speaking of 1600x1200, this is about the highest 4:3 resolution you will find with LCD panels at the moment and you can get up to 21" size in this flavour.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 20, 200619 yr My Samsung 213T is a 21.3" 4:3 monitor at native resolution of 1600x1200 (DVI connection)It's awesome! I have had it for 3 years now and it has probably been the best purchase I have ever made for my PC expreience. There are ones with better response time now of course....... October 20, 200619 yr Here's a vote for my 24" Dell; don't recall the rated response time, but running at 1920x1200, I can, on occasion, enjoy some spectacular visuals.
October 24, 200619 yr If you want . . .1. 4:3 aspect ratio2. 5ms response time3. .25 pixel pitch4. 3 year warranty5. $323 out the door. . . you may wish to look at the 21" Samsung 204B.Because it is a TN type panel (Twisted Nematic) you can expect narrow viewing angles as it's inherant shortcoming. But, as you can see above, image quality when looking dead on is superb, durable, and cheapish. I'm happy with the one I'm using--FS9 never looked so clear! Night flying isn't as great as it was on my old Sony CRT though--but this is an issue with most all LCDs, and especially those with rapid response times.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. October 24, 200619 yr What you want is a 4:3 projector of course :)Otherwise the bigger screens are all widescreen format. Now I don
