December 13, 200619 yr I noticed over at another forum someone posted this awesome yet to be released yoke. http://www.flyengravity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=281Sure, we all want a nice looking professional yoke, but when I saw the features, I drooled a days slobber all over my poor CH! http://smilies.vidahost.com/contrib/sally/tongue.gifLook at this:* heavy duty design * full functional * total column + Yoke * can be used seperately or dual linked.* motorized control load to feel the forces when flying. * Auto movement when flying on auto pilot.* stick shaker - mentioned in their forum. This is too cool, but I fear it'll be out of my price range. http://smilies.vidahost.com/otn/angry/icon...dissapprove.gif - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
December 13, 200619 yr Hello ChrisI saw this too - agree it looks amazing. My CH has served me well for years but I fear it's coming to the end of its life. I will now be saving up and so that I can get the necessary approvals I shall be doing much housework between now and the first quarter of 07.Bud
December 13, 200619 yr You know.. I have been looking for a half decent Yoke..but one thats linked to a good sized trim wheel.Thats all I want. and there is none. Atleast not that I know off.:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 13, 200619 yr I don't think so, either. I made my own from a pair of cheapo joysticks combined with the electronics from a Logiteck Wingman Interceptor, a few monthss back. I used a 30" length of hard pvc water pipe, an exterior pvc electrical outlet box, three chunks of 3/4" water pipe and two 90-deg. elbows. I took the handles off two joysticks and mounted them on the elbows, pointing "up; two 3" sections of the 3/4" water pipe connected the elbows to the sides of the electrical box, and a 5" section of the same water pipe going from the back of the box (roll axis) through the 30" pvc pipe at the top. The bottom goes through a hole in a 10" x 6" x 6" wooden box mounted on the floor, and is pivoted (pitch axis) 6" from the bottom with a piece of 1/2" copper pipe. The roll and pitch axis pots are then hooked up with Dubro R/C hardware. It is trouble-free, looks ok and works "like the real thing". PM me if you need a drawing Manny. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
December 14, 200619 yr The wholething wasn't more than about $40 Canadian. The two 'sticks were $4.99 each at a clearance discount store in Toronto. Two pots at $3.95 each: the Dubro hardware was about $9.00, and the PVC box, pipe and water pipe ("black" pipe) weren't more than $15.00. I did have to butcher my good Wingman, but the circuit board electronics are very solid, compared to the somewhat flaky cheapo boards. I use the Wingman for one handle and a cheapo in the other. The Wingman never changes it's calibration, but the other one needs twiddling ocasionally. December 14, 200619 yr I was referring to the commercial yoke presented at the beginning of this thread...not your homemade one. Sorry for the confusion. How much will the one pictured cost? Stan
December 14, 200619 yr Ohhh Yeahhhh...Something else I will keep my eye on!!!Watcha think...I'd say well over a grand?? PFC's 73 yoke is 1300...This one looks nicer to me...It may be $2K??I'd love to have one also...But probably out of my price range??I made a post reguarding Simped Rudder pedals...What a combo this would make!! Or..Maybe these guys have their own rudder pedals also??Then an Awesome Throttle Quadrant and a Precision Flight Controls AutoPilot...I'll be set..he heDreaming!!PFC'c Link..In Case some one may not know about them...http://www.flypfc.com/Thanks for the link!!
December 15, 200619 yr Hi Paul.Yours looks nice. Is that linked to a Trim wheel of sorts? With that design of yours. Can that that be modified to work like a regular GA type yoke (rather than an airliner type) and link to a Trim wheel physically?I am not a handyman as such. But I have a buddy who is..and If its feasible I could chat him up to help with it.:)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 15, 200619 yr Yeah Paul...That is quite a set-up you have there!! Hummm...Considering my Want's vs My Cash...The Build your own arrangement sure makes more sense...I think I'd enjoy building the stuff more than the working the required Overtime to pay for the Off the Shelve stuff..he heIf a guy were interested in tackeling a project similar to your's..Would you mind fielding a question or two here and there??I have allot of stuff to get done first...But after seeing your set-up...And poking around the internet the last day or two...I'm kinda thinking I may want to go the Do it Yourself route...I think it would be Fun!!Thanks...
December 15, 200619 yr NP; I'm putting the stuff up on photobucket - (first time photobucket user, so it takes time!). To Manny's post - yes - my first "stick" was a single - modelled after the Spitfire's stick, with a pitch, mixture and throttle mounted on the left side of a (3/4" plywood frame, 3/16" veneer-sided)"cockpit". It was very "Spitfire", but didn't work well when I flew the B25 or the DF727. Elevator trim is on the right handle. Not quite sure how to make a trim wheel, although that would be the way to go, right? I'll put some pictures up in the next day or so. My email is [email protected]. . and - yes - it was fun!Regards, i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
