January 30, 200719 yr Just a question to you guys out there. I am in the process of reinstalling everything after a major reinstall problem following the purchase of a new pc system. I am still not convinced that i did anything wrong during the first reinstall. In the process of my many hours of searching for answers, i have read advice here on there that on board sound chips are not the best when running several add-ons so i thought i would ask if anybody has had problems related to this before i go ahead and waste my time?
January 31, 200719 yr Don't know of FS sound issues, Dick, but I also upgraded my system (ASUS m/b)and had problems with setting up the microphone. It uses SoundMX drivers, and I needed the mic for an Avaya SoftPhone (for work) and also to use with the FSX multiplayer system. It was SUCH a pain I went and purchased a SoundBlaster Audigy card, and that fixed it right up. All problems went away. Hope this helps. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
January 31, 200719 yr My own experience leads me to say, install a seperate sound card and disable onboard sound. I did so and experienced an increase in overall sim performance...as well as better sound. Denny Retired Professional Tourist
February 2, 200719 yr Thanks a lot guys. I Am going shoping for a card.I am having just too many sound problems.
February 2, 200719 yr On-board sound had been inferior compared to dedicated sound cards for many years. However, some of the newer chipsets are excellent and can rival the latest external sound cards.Unfortunately, Creative has more or less a monopoly on external sound cards and their drivers are considered by many has poor.As far as I am concerned, there is currently no reason not to use the on-board sound with today's chipsets - even if you're an audiophile or gamer.Pat
