To Yoke or not to Yoke ???

Featured Replies

Hi all,I have been simming for about 7+ years and have always used a JOYSTICK..as I do now (Sidewinder). Now I am thinking about replacing to joystick with a CH YOKE..no pedals to start off with....so my question is, and put youself in my position if you would, would you chose to do it and does it make the simming expierance a little mor relistic. My comuter is probably considered "High END"..runs FS9 very well.Looking forward to your imput. Thanks,JimMesa, Arizona

It made the sim much more serious for me. But I think you need the pedals with the yoke. Otherwise how can you control yaw? It's one of the three basic elements of flight controls. IMO it's highly unrealistic if you give up yaw control.Jason

I have used a yoke for years now and it is a heaps better experience than using a joystick, even without rudder pedals just yet. Do it!Gary

I prefer to fly real planes that have sticks, so you won't see me going for a new yoke any time soon! :-hah In fact, I have an old CH model somewhere in the closet. And yes, rudder pedals are a must!L.Adamson --- Saitek X-52 & Saitek pedals.

If most of the aircraft you fly have yokes on them then definitely go for the yoke, it just feels way better ! then just doing it with the joystick, I use both yoke for my 737s dc-10s etc etc and my joystick for the airbus's and helicopter's. I still don't have the pedal's yet but will get them soon! the ch yoke has lasted me many years and it still works fine. I say go for it Jim, I really think you will like it.

If you want the most realistic flight simming experience get the PFC (Precision Flight Controls) Yoke, Rudder Pedals and Throttle Quadrant Console. Looks and feels like real flight controls but very expensive.Frank
