April 13, 200719 yr Author I donot know why you cannot open the picture, I can run my comp. ok now, ntune creates a profile that only opens when you want it.I don't quite know what you mean about running fs, that was the point of updating? April 13, 200719 yr When you overclock, you need to test the overclock with the machine going at 110% (or burning in). Usually, you can use Prime95 (or Orthos for dual core). You let this run all night. It will max all your cores and throw errors or lock up if your computer can't handle it.If this happens, you back the overclock down slightly and try again. You keep doing this until it runs stable for a night. What Rhett was saying is that FSX "burns in" or exercises your computer as much or more than Prime95 or Orthos. So if you have not done what I described above, if you just let NTune pick an overclock, FSX might lock the computer. You also want to run MemTest overnight, too, to test your memory.
April 13, 200719 yr >I donot know why you cannot open the picture, I can run my>comp.Well, because for starters you saved your attachment as a text file, not as a jpg. You must specify the correct file type when you attach here at AVSIM or else it won't work.> ok now, ntune creates a profile that> only opens when you want it.I don't quite know what you mean>about running fs, that was the point of updating?>Updating what? huh?You said you overclocked your comp until it would not boot. I said that for some motherboards, as a last-ditch, you might have to pull the CMOS reset jumper to get it to boot again. Now as "updating" I don't know what you are talking about.Regarding FS, I said FS is a good program to use to test an overclock. I have found it as good as Prime95 actually...basically if an overclock can run FS for hours on end stably, then it's a stable overclock.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
April 14, 200719 yr Author Thanks for your reply, what I mean by updating is ,replacing my athlon 3000 with the 4000. Ok now I have changed my attachment, see if you can read it?. I only run fsx, so anything I do must run this game, you have given me a lot to think about, so now I must see if can understand it all.Thanks.
April 15, 200719 yr Yes your pic attached fine now.I see you overclocked it to 2.8. That's getting up there, nice job.The most I got was about 2.6 but then I have the slightly lower clock speed version of your cpu.But you said at 2.8 ghz it was not stable running FS. You said it was locking up FS in your other post. Well in that case you might want to turn it down to 2.6 ghz or so.Like I said, FS will tax an overclock pretty well. Find a overclock that will run FS stable, and I bet you won't have any problems in any other apps.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
