May 5, 200719 yr I have FS9 w/ over 30gb addons, both free and payware. Problem is, with my new nVidia 8800GTS I cant get it to work...The graphics simply doesn't respond to anything I do in the card control panel. I did everything from tweaking to full format HD and reinstallation of everything from scratch - no effect. Funny is that FSX works great with the new card. The only problem is - it is stock....Being used to the quality and variety of addons in my FS9, flying FSX stock now is just plain dull....Anyone in similar situation? Anyone can suggest anything?
May 5, 200719 yr . . drivers or a bad card, I would think. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 5, 200719 yr Well you have either... 1. Overall system/Driver issues, 2. Corrupt OS, 3. Bad Driver, 4. Not correctly followed the new driver install procedure or a DOA (or fried if you've overclocked the core yourself) GPU. In any case the 8800 GPUs work just fine with FS9 as well as FSX.btw, this should be over at the HW section, you'll get a much quicker reply there from us hardware junkies.
May 5, 200719 yr Hi, have you tried with Forceware 97.92 or 97.94, both WHQL?Some people are having problems with the new 1XX.XX series, due to the different way of selecting the level of AA and AF (now you have to check AA, both into the driver and also in FS9).I own a XFX 8800GTS 640 MB without problems with this new series.Regards.Miquel Egea.
May 5, 200719 yr Don't jump to conclusions saying that right away all 8800's work with FS9...Friend of mine (psolk on this forum) couldn't get his 8800GTX AA and AF to work worth a darn in FS9 after so many drivers and tweaking etc - and he's a PC hardware master lol...I believe he finally got it I don't know what he changed.OP - Have you tried entering the options BOTH in forceware AND in FS9/X? May 6, 200719 yr Thanks, well 2 and 3 is highly unlikely. 4 is definite no, cuz I never touched overcklocking. 1 is quite possible. Before installing the card I had my power upped to 550W. My PC overall seems to work much better and smoother after all reinstallations. FSX works well, so I doubt its the card itself. One point worthy of note: when I'm in the FS9 and I min and go to 8800 control panel, the sttings are automatically scaled back to low, with logo being all rough-edged. Even if I set them up the logo stays edged. Once I exit the FS9 and go to control panel, the logo is again smooth and sharp. Any ideas?
May 6, 200719 yr Sorry, what is forceware 97.92/94? Sorry, but I'm just a good simmer, not PC-guru ;) lol
May 6, 200719 yr Hi, would it be possible to ask your hardware master friend to post exactly what he did to make it work? Pleeeeeaseee?;)I am not very proficient in PC/H-ware. I know basics, but if I encounter problems I quickly run out of ideas. Just a good sim-pilot needing advise from PC-gurus.Thnx.
May 6, 200719 yr I agree with Miquel. The latest drivers cause nothing but problems with AA in FS9. Use an earlier version and you'll probably see a difference. In addition, the control panel changed in the later versions which may not have helped.Regards,Jim KarnNOTHING is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
