September 28, 200718 yr I get to this point every few years-tired of mouse clicks when using the avionics panel. This seems to be a good price/feature unit-anyone with experience? or competition that might be better for the price?http://flyelite.com/hardware.php?product_id=146http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 28, 200718 yr I use the Desktop Aviator switch box. It's a USB device that gives you 8 additional switches that you can program to do whatever you like. I have mune setup for autopilot functions. It's less than a hundred bucks and well made. The CH Throttle Quadrant provides an additional 6 2-way switches.Dale Dale
October 5, 200718 yr Author I ended up getting the elite 2000 and am elated! It is built incredibly and does just about everything you need. My only gripe is the knob for the gps is not fuctional in fsx-otherwise along with tracker ir some of the best $ I have spent.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 5, 200718 yr How do you view the radio display? that unit does not display.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 5, 200718 yr Author The cheaper units like this don't. However, it feels pretty natural-you look at the vc for example and dial it on the hardware. In some ways this makes it more versatile as in the case of the gps you can program the buttons for different functions and models.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 6, 200718 yr K.. For that price it ain't bad. The same unit used to cost over $1300 bucks or so.. and I would have recommended Go flight. But since they have dropped the price on that unit to $600, its pretty good and if you like it.. then thats it.I have the Flight Link TR1 http://www.flightlink.com/hardware/fixedwing/tr1.html the cost is a little more than that $900 there, You need to get another USB connector for $250 bucks or so. But I got the whole unit used for $600 and then I spent another #250 bucks to get some things fixed. But I am trying to build me a small cockpit and I am actually planning to use Go flight Radios. They are far more versatile. It also syncs up very well with FSim.. e.g. if you turn off the avionics in Fsim, it turns of the Go flight avionics. things like that. And also You can start small and build on it.http://www.goflightinc.com/order/index.php?cPath=1Someone had bad mouthed Go flight and I had regrettably stayed away from it for too long until I tried it out myself. I love it. But for the price of $600 The elite 2000 is good. You could also use it with Elite software too.MannyI am also getting these guages from http://www.flightillusion.com/gallery1.htmFlight Illusions gauges are nice.. but they are so slow in putting out these units. I almost had to wait for over a year since I ordered the Attitude indicator and now I am waiting for the DG. They don't have the TC and the VORs yet. Since I started with them, I don't want to switch to Simkits. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
