I think FSX looks much better in Vista - the colors seem brighter, and when DX10 stuff is available that will be more of an incentive.VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.6Evga 680i A1 with P30 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/

If the colors look brighter, you can probably go into your video card settings and adjust stuff in there (the Gamma settings I believe) under XP to get similar effect.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Level-D 767 on finals to PHNL>>8800 GTS: about 17 fps>>8800 Ultra: about 25 fps.I submit that something other than the graphics cards account for that performance gap. There is no way a GPU that is 13% faster will create a 50% performance leap on a CPU bound game, unless you are putting the bottleneck square on the GPU with extreme resolution and high levels of supersample AA. Due to the narrow memory bus on the GTS, its possible to see a 50-100% increase from the GTS to the Ultra on GPU memory bandwidth bottlenecked applications, but unless you were using supersampling there is no way you were bottlenecked by GPU mem bandwidth at that resolution.

I'm certainly no expert at this and of course I cannot exclude the possibility that these results are a product of some quirk in my setup rather than the new card. But is the faster clock speed really the only difference between the GTS and the Ultra? I thought that the Ultra also had substantially more "shaders" (whatever they might be) than the GTS. Perhaps the higher clock speed, bigger (and faster) RAM and more numerous shaders combine to make a bigger difference than the "sum of their parts".On a separate note: my Ultra is going back to the vendor, because I find that it makes a second (analogue) monitor flicker unacceptably. I hope this is just a RAMDAC issue and that a replacement will sort the problem out.Tim
