It is in the hardware-a cheap home cockpit

I am a very good rationalizer...When my Baron went in for its' first annual a week ago with two brand new engines-I thought it would be a quick turnover (150 hours total time). When they found a crankcase crack on the right engine it was a shock-further shock that though even still under warranty it will be a minimum of 6-8 week turnover. So lets see -6-8 weeks of not flying-better start using the sim more. 28 gallons of gas an hour being saved for not flying two months...hhhhmmmm ...(even my wife bought this argument :-lol)I have always maintained that until hardware is better there can't be much improvement in any sim-after all much of real flying is perceptual, feel, and sound (that can be done on the sim). So this seemed a good time to improve the hardware. So tired of mouse clicking radios, hsi's etc.-I bought the Elite avionics panel 2000 for $600.For the visuals I was considering the matrox triple head but decided a hugely bigger monitor at higher res. would be a good compromise-a 24" flat screen monitor for $299 at office max.I also ordered the new Saitek yoke-though backordered. I hope it is an increase of feel, trim , and all the other areas over my 10 year old ch yoke.Due to a very nice simmer-I already have complete reality in the yoke department-a real Baron quad that is attached to the ch throttle. For roughly $1000-a huge improvement-more than any software has made in the last few incarnations. The elite is very intuitive even though it doesn't have the display on the unit. The only complaint I have is a few of the buttons don't work (including the gps dial which is the biggest one)-on the good side the gps buttons are completely programable so I set it up to mimic my kln94. I hope future drivers will fix this.Anyway-very happy campter here!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/178799.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

Geofa- Nice setup-I like the quadrant! Now you need a 180

Hey Geofa, I'm not sure if you already did this with your previous widescreen monitor but try setting WideViewAspect=True, as this puts scenery back in proportion on widescreen monitors. There is a performance hit versus normal aspect, as it will display more objects but IMO it is worth the price.Gary
