nVidia vs ATI in DX10 offerings

Hi Sam,Thats just the info I have been looking for! Thanks. The other thing I have been wondering about is the connections. Most of the 42" LCD TV's have HDMI connections now, and no DVI. Is there any quality or performance loss using a DVI to HDMI adapter?Bill

I didn't do any benchmarks or anything scientific, just using gut feel. I lost a few FPS, but nothing significant.Bill

My 42 has a VGA input for the computer. I didn't have a VGA cable handy, so I used a DVI cable with an HDMI adapter. I then hooked the computer up to one of the 42's HDMI ports. I expected nothing but trouble, but it was a miracle. The my desktop just popped up on the 42, no problem. A couple of clicks in the video properties screens to select the 1920x1080 / 1280/1080 resolutions for the 42 / 19. I then selected 'dual view' multi-monitor support in Nvidia's control panel and it just worked. Couldn't believe it. I had a 2nd 19 (along with the 42) going for a while with an old single port PCI Vcard I had laying around. That worked fine too. The plan is to get a cheap dual port PCI Vcard, then run three 19s and the 42. All this on a 6600GT. As long as I stay on one monitor, FS9/X Runs the same no matter how many monitors I have hooked up.

I guess that suggests your CPU and/or memory subsystem is capping performance over resolution, and therefore that you have ample GPU to get the job done. Try this experiment and see what happens on your systems: run FS9 or X in windowed mode, and resize the window to rather tiny, and see how the frame counter compares.
