Maxi-Vista Dual Monitors Question

Featured Replies

I have Dell Quad Core with dual 8800 GTX's cards. Right now I have dual monitors (1 card for each monitor). The second monitor is set up ONLY to show the throttles quadrant, FMC and ATC text box. It seems a waste to devote 1 card to that.Question: If I use the maxi-vista set up (with a spare computer), will I expect dramatic increases in FPS? I get around 20 FPS with the LD767 - but I'd love more so I can crank up more scenery of course. Anyone use Maxi-vista and can report findings?Paul

Paul- YES- a real waste of a monitor. You should also have a view on #2 -either View Fwd Left (or right) as well as the popups. Then you start to get a wider horizon. Remember FS view forward is only 45

With MaxVista the rendering is still all done on the server machine, i.e. the machine with two graphics cards, the 2d screen output is then shunted off across the network to the client display so you'd actually be wasting more that way, i.e. the power to run the second PC etc.Gauges will take very little overhead on your system - do you notice any difference between having them on the second GPU and not?

I only ran the 2 monitors using two 8800 GTX's. I'd like to try 2 GPu's for 1 monitor to see if it makea dofference, but one tiny error in setting it up and back, will cause HUGE problems - and would need a re-install. It happened already, so I am reluctany tp mess with it. But if maxi-vista proves to be a vaible option, I may mess with this set-up.

But you are not going to get any benefit from it over using the monitor directly from your second graphics card. And setting your display as you want it should not cause any problems and certainly not require any reinstalls - if it does then there is something wrong. The only way to use 2 GPUs for one monitor would be in SLI but FSX doesn't take any advantage of SLI so you will get no benefit apart from post processing, i.e. AA
