November 12, 200718 yr I just checked to see what price Future Shop was selling their ATI X1950 256 Pro card for...and lo and behold, they have delisted it. I then went to Best Buy, and can't find it either!!!!I bet that ATI has stopped selling this card because of how incredibly good this part was/is and it is impeding the sale of the newer cards. This part certainly was a 'sleeper card' for sure, especially with it being run by the Cat 7.10 driver suite. If you want or were thinking of getting an X1950 Pro...I suggest you find one somewhere while you still can and BUY IT! :)Mitch
November 13, 200718 yr Mitch,I have one with 512 and I love it, espicially with the new Omega drivers based on the 7.10 drivers . . . it just keeps on getting better.Best,clayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. Dopke (Clay)Major, USAF (retired)"Drac"
November 13, 200718 yr Newegg still lists a number of them: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....Radeon+X1950PROOf course, with the release of the 3850/3870 cards this week even the X1950 Pro will pale in comparison: http://iax-tech.com/video/3870/38701.htmGood for us that ATI and nVidia are releasing some great performing cards for less than the standard $500...
November 13, 200718 yr I am currently playing with a 3870 sample on a X38 MB and 9650 CPU and frame rates are through the roof. Picture quality of the 3870 is fantastic! Why anyone would go for a 2 year old card is (considerably) beyond me, to phrase it politely.
November 13, 200718 yr Wow, could you explain more things about this card; noise, fps with AA and AF; FS9, FSX... please? Thanks in advance.Miquel Egea.
November 14, 200718 yr Unfortunately I don't have the time or the access right now to do card testing, the setup I am watching is mainly used to test the new processors under strain. We have been running a Yorksfield for 2 months on full load with different cooling at 4 and 5 Ghz, on different motherboards. We played with FSX on the new ASUS P5E3 DELUXE board and the OC'd processor and got fantastic frame rates. Using different nVidia cards (8500, 8600, 8800) didn't actually make much of a difference in frame rates. Last week we put in the ATI3870 and got much higher frames with sliders to max, but I can't offer any systematic testing. Tom's Hardware are working on that though. http://www.tomshardware.com/us/For those depending on add-ons like PMDG/LDS/FEX etc., the new processor generation will make a big difference. The image of the 3870 is fantastically crisp, better than any card I have seen so far.
November 15, 200718 yr >This part certainly was a 'sleeper card' for sure, especially>with it being run by the Cat 7.10 driver suite.Wow, I guess I lucked out! My 6800GT/OC died so I bought one of these dudes at Best Buy as a closeout at . . . $140! It smokes my 6800GT, tho I don't know if I should try the 7.1 drivers as I am running Windows 2000, and it's the AGP version of the card. BTW, I remembered my BFG 6800GT/OC had a lifetime warranty, so I contact BFG and voila, they send me a 7800GS 256mg AGP. Not bad for a free upgrade! Anyway, if anyone's tried AGP version + Win2K + 7.1 I'd appreciate the insight.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.
