Attention GoFlight EFIS and MCP PRO users...

Featured Replies

I just got the GF EFIS and added it to the MCP PRO last night. It's fantastic! I can't believe how well it works. However, I am baffled by the physical set-up because there seems to be no standing support bracket for the EFIS because I took one of the brackets of the MCP PRO to fit the EFIS on to it. The MCP PRO has a support bracket on the right but on the left side where the EFIS is located, there is nothing because there is nowhere to attach a bracket.I've written to GoFlight to ask what I am missing but thought I'd post here and ask if anybody else has had this issue and figured it out. Thanks!JS

JS, what aircraft are you using it with, and how are you programming it? I have the MCP Pro which works fine with the Level D 767 and the PIC 737, but my budget won't run to Project Magenta :)--Bryn

Phew, GoFlight called me and in the course of our conversation it emerged that I had failed this intelligence test. I fixed the bracket as a result of the call and now all is balanced, hooray!JS

Glad you got it fixed JS.I'm still really keen to hear how you are interfacing the EFIS box with FS. What software is necessary?--Bryn

Well, to be honest, at this stage, I use the GF EFIS only with PMDG 737 NG and their 747-400. It does work very nicely and is a great addition adding to immersion and reality emulation. I tried to use the EFIS with the CLS A340-500/600 but so far, no response. I'm not that concerned, I s'poze since I mostly fly the 747-400 as my serious heavy iron jet. It would be great if it also worked with the Level-D 767 but it does not; that said, the 767 had an EFIS with a rather different panel interface anyway and I have programmed the GoFlight rotary panel to work with the Level-D 767 in EFIS mode and that works perfectly.I use the GoFlight MCP PRO with all types of FS9 and add-on aircraft. It works great. Of course with default FS9 aircraft, the autopilot lacks several modes and you cannot engage FL CH on a default FS9 jet if it's not there to engage.GoFlight software that you download at their website in a few moments makes all of their hardware work very nicely with FS9 and various add-ons so no other software is really required. The interface is very clear and works perfectly. Oh, I guess I also have Bert de Kiezer's software from the Level-D forums to work some of the GoFlight hardware with the Level-D but that interface is nearly idiot proof and very user friendly. I should know as I am a PC-idiot with certain things !JS

Thanks for the reply JS.I use the MCPPro with the 737PIC and the LevelD 767 - both of which provide the interface facility at no extra cost, unlike PMDG who make a hefty extra charge. I'm glad to hear that the EFIS works with the LevelD. That sounds encouraging. The 737PIC EFIS function will respond to keyboard assignments so if it is possible to program the GoFlight EFIS box to emit the required keystrokes as the switches are turned it might be usable with that aircraft. Have GoFlight got a key mapper available for the EFIS box? I can't recall seeing one.--Bryn
