I've seen Tom's Hardware FSX benchmarks that show the ATI at 15fps vs the nVidia at 22. Has anyone actually switched from a 1950XT 512MB to an 8800GT 512 and experienced such a large increase?Just curious before I get in line with the rest of the world to find an 8800GT. For FSX, not sure, but if you play other games....oh yeah...hehe I was just at newegg, they had a BFG 8800GT in stock, I added it to cart, and it was out of stock roflz!

So that was you who snatched it! LOLI did the same thing with an EVGA Superclocked 8800. By the time I added a heatsink the cart was empty.I give up. Just wait'll January maybe.

Hi again, Frank, I currently have much less of a graphics card than you and I am also wondering if it isn't best to wait for DX10 technology to drop in price. And I say this after ordering an xfx 8800GT which I'll get for $199.98 from D3ll (cheap because of the 20%Paypal rebate). While its a good deal, I wonder whether it's really worth it beacuse my lowly x800xt runs FSX fairly well after the CPU upgrade and it seems DX10 and related drivers are playing catch-up. I don't really play other games so, to the other owners of 8800GT's, what are the most noticable benefits of the card? Image quality? I do run dual monitor and high 1920x1200 resolution. I can already pull consistent 20-25 FPS in the air and 16-20 on the ground at most airports with autgen very dense, 50% woai/10% road traffic, 1x high water, most everything else maxed except bloom, shadows etc. I can still cancel the order for the card or maybe sell it, but I too am wondering what to expect? You can also get the 8800GTS 640mb 112 shader 'upgraded' cards at roughly the same price as an 8800GT after rebates. It also currently comes with a free copy of Crysis which is not too shabby a promotion.Check out the review of the 8800GTS SSC edition over at hardwarecanucks.The 112 shader enabled 8800GTS eats the 8800GT at 1600x1200 and above.Glenn
