December 13, 200718 yr Do you want dx10 or dx9?dx10 for fsx (but the dx10 cards will run fs9) or dx9 for fs9 and fsxdx10 <100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814141062 8600gtcheapest but very bad save up for better stuff like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130312 8800gts rev2 Steven Penninck
December 13, 200718 yr As long as you keep AA/AF levels at medium or lower, an 8600GT will fit the bill for around 100 bills.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
December 13, 200718 yr I agree with Gary. I just installed (yesterday) a 256mb 8600. I was guessing that my ATI 9800SE 128mb was my bottleneck (CPU e4600 2.6ghz, 1gb memory). I was luckily correct. My frame rates doubled and tripled from the 20fps I had with my normal setting which I would characterize as medium except for simple clouds, no autogen, and no AI. I have not explored all of the limiting settings for the 8600 except that dense autogen only drops my to 30fps. I fly in the rural areas. With max autogen New York City gave 12fps. Before it was 4 fps.It is rather pointless to try to compare the hundreds of settings possible with a few tweaks thrown in but it was worth the $96 with shipping from Newegg.Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
