Finally Decided on New Computer Specs

Featured Replies

Well, my signature says the specs. Will I be able to turn up the settings in FSX to about 85% or more, excluding traffic (50%)? I plan to:1)Defrag the drive;2)Install FSX;3)Defrag4)Install SP1;5)Defrag.I'm holding off on SP2, I've heard some very negative things about it. Also, how would I enable the 3G switch on Vista (forgive me if this has already been discussed)?

With your setup, with 85% you'll probably be in the 7-9fps area around a built up city. Simply put, the system you're running even with all the disk tricks just won't cut it for FSX at 85% detail. Try taking everything down to 50% but at that, you're better off sticking with FS9.

I meant my future specs, unless that's what I will get even with them?

>I meant my future specs, unless that's what I will get even>with them? You will not be able to attain 85% on all sliders with your future machine even if its overclocked. However, if you take your time adjusting your settings you will be able to achieve a very nice looking and decent running sim.If you haven't tossed around the idea of overclocking you should definitely give it a thought. A few extra FPS can make a world of difference in FSX.

I most certainly am looking into overclocking, thanks.
