FSX menu text disappearing ????

Featured Replies

I have recently acquired a great AWD 22" LCD monitor. However, I have noticed that when running FSX, the menu will suddenly either have distorted text or the text will disappear altogether leaving only the _ lines that would normally be the Hotkey letters.I am running the screen in 'recommended' 16x10, but have also tried 14x9 with similar results. My graphics card is an 'XFX GForce 7600GT' with 256mb RAM, and I have 2 GBytes DDR physical RAM in the machine; AMD ATHLON 2.6mhz. NVidia drivers are recommended WHQL 169.21. Using DVI cable connection too.I was wondering whether there are any graphics settings, either for the card or elsewhere that I should be setting as this is the first time that I have run FS on a wide screen monitor.I do have "WideAspectView=True" set in FSX.cfg.Any thoughts anyone?Cheers,Stuart

I have a number of issues with the 169.x drivers in this and other titles and had to revert back (one of my other games has severe font issues and crashes on start). Some tips:Do you get this to happen both in full screen and windowed mode?Have you tried the 162.25 WHQL back from September (I think)? The latest driver release seems to have many issues so going back to an older driver will tell you if the driver is the issue or something else is happening. The older drivers are found in the archive section of the Nvidia site.Do you have the latest DirectX version (last update was in November 2007)?Last thing I would try is to reduce the level of texture detail and see if you have the problem. For your new monitor, it is always best to run the card at the native resolution as your monitor since that will give you the best picture, but running at a lower resolution should not create the problem you describe. Hope this helps,Etienne
