February 7, 200818 yr Hello:Everytime I use FSX I get the red message "differential brakes" in the lower left corner of my display. The only way I can cause the message to disappear is to place my feet on the pedals. I have tried recalibrating my pedals and played with sensitivity and null zones. I can get the message to disappear, but only when the message "brakes" appears. I think my pedals may need to be adjusted however in FS9 I don't have this problem. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks!Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.
February 7, 200818 yr I get it all the time too-it is annoying and kicking the pedals usually eventually gets rid of it. I have tried different null zones to no avail. A friend came over the other night and said he had read that putting a small board under the brakes when calibrating (keeping you from pushing all the way down) fixes this. I haven't had time to try it out but who knows?http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/ Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
February 7, 200818 yr Hi Airbus,What usually works is this. First, got to the Windows Game Controllers applet and find the "Reset Defaults' button for the pedals. Click that, but don't calibrate the pedals. Just Cancel or whatever. Your other controllers should be calibrated normally.Next, open the FS Sensitivity and Null Zone dialog and set the Null Zone sliders fully to the left. Set the Sensitivity sliders fully to the right. Finally, find your way over to the FS Control Assignments dialog, check the toe brakes and make sure the "Reversed" boxes are checked on the axis assignments.Give it a try. It should shut the light off, but you'll likely have a lot of deadzone at the top of the pedal travel. You can go into the Sensitivity and Null Zone dialog again and move the sliders to the right until you like the way it feels.Hope this helps!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
February 7, 200818 yr Just a note that FSUIPC (registered) will allow you to disable the FSX control input and replaces its own calibration and mapping. It fixed calibration problems for me and also allowed me to change the response curve inside FSX.Etienne
February 7, 200818 yr I had the exact samee problem.Download the Control Manager from CH and install it. When it comes time to calibrate, and it asks you to set the "zero" position of the brakes, I pressed them both slightly forward, matching the raw input numbers to something greater than either of them was resting at. Since brakes really CAN'T reverse, a starting position seen as "negative" is just set to zero. After I did this, I had to press both pedals about 1/8" to get the brakes to start grabbing. If I let the pedals go, the "differential" message disappeared. And it has been working perfectly since then.Hope that helped.
February 8, 200818 yr Author Hi Bob:I just wanted to let you know and the others who kindly responded that I tried your solution to my problem and it worked!! The key here is that you have to go to the Game Controller applet for the pedals outside of FSX for this to work. I tried resetting to default inside of FSX and it did not work. Thanks again to you and the others who responded!Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.
February 8, 200818 yr Hi Airbus,Great! I'm not sure why it would matter whether you reset the calibration from inside FS or out, it's the same applet, but Windows does odd things some times.Anyway, good to hear you got it working!Best regards,- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
