Analog to USB for flight yoke?

Featured Replies

Hello all, well I finally bit the bullet and after my P4 478 system died, I have decided to upgrade to the new 775 x38 ASUS Maximus MB and a QX9650 chip and all which needs to go with that, my only problem is that my PFC yoke is old style analog, (my old ASUS mb had a ribbon accessory to plug the port into) and my new MB has no serial port type plug in for that type. Is there a conversion that can be done to make it into USB, or an adaptor? This flight yoke was $500 years ago, is still like new and it would be such a waste not to be able to use it.Thanks in advanceClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpg

It sucks when technology marches past you... I had the same issue..It came down to... finding and ordering a MIDI to USB converter with estimated cost of $ 30 to $45 and no real assurance that it would work as advertised... 1/2 the price a new yoke with no assurance that it would work..I just bit the bullet and bought new controllers...I had the same issue with needing a new motherboard and not being able to buy one with AGP slots...I look at it like this.. I might save something an reuse it in the future, but would probably be better off in the long run just throwing it away and buying new stuff when it's needed.. you get new stuff that can be so much better than the old stuff.

Jim,Well, if a new PFC yoke wasn't $750 US Iwould go that way, unfortunately, I have gotten use to the quality of the PFC and nothing else seems to match up . . . hence, wanting to save the old one. Where did you find a midi to USB converter? Point me in the right direction, please.http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgThanksClayton T. Dopke (Clay)

Jim H,That is exactly what I need, thanks so very much, am ordering it as we speak.Best,Clay[link:www.dreamfleet2000.com/Previews/727/preview_home.html|http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/Forum_Banners/Dopke01.jpg

Clay, Did you get the adapter cable, and did it work? I'm kind of in the same boat and this would be a less expensive option.
