March 22, 200818 yr Moderator Hi Rhett,<>Not at all. In fact I tried the Asus utiity but then switched to the one in Tray Tools. I've been flying for about 30 mins now (in FS9) and the fan hasn't moved away from 30% and the GPU temp is 46C.<>Yes, leave well alone I say. Tray Tools by Ray Adams really is a nice piece of donation-ware software. He has included an auto-detect mode for fan adjustment and assuming it's working correctly the temps are just fine in a non-overclocked system. I may o/c another day.<>I'm not familiar with those models. The Dell 2407 is widely respected here and the price has dropped since I bought it. Include that in your shortlist.<If you're going to fly FSX the extra 512Mb of memory will be useful. Lots of memory is one of Phil Taylor's recommendations. Hopefully better ATI drivers will improve performance because on paper it's the equal of the 8800 series. More graphics memory is the future.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). April 1, 200818 yr Moderator Sorry to hear about your 3870X2. I have problems with my system and feel it could be the 3870X2. I've taken the PC into a local computer shop for a diagnosis.Providing the fps isn't much lower than the 8800 it shouldn't matter that much. Image quality is far higher and I have no issues with SP2.Maybe there's quality issues with the 3870X2? I should know if mine is the cause of my problems in a day or two. Ray (Cheshire, England).
