March 18, 200818 yr I presently use multiple monitors connected to dual video cards, sometimes three, sometimes four.I have a second computer that is sitting idle on a garage shelf since my last round robin upgrade (mine, my wife's, then my daughter's - bet you know the routine). I don't remember exactly what the specifications are, but feel sure it would be fully adequate for WideFS purposes.I have considered bringing the unused computer down and implementing it on my secondary monitors with WideFS, however if I understand correctly secondary windows integral to MSFS cannot be used in this way, only programs running outside of FS.A secondary question in the two computer implmentation is, is there any way to switch back and forth between computers with a common keyboard and mouse with duplex components, or are individual units required? I do have a laptop that might be another option which should negate mouse and/or keyboard duplication if it were used.A third question is, the older computer has a Windows 98 operating system installed while my primary system is XPPro; Is there a conflict here to implement WideFS? (The Laptop has Windows XP)?If you use WideFS and have found it to be more beneficial than my present single computer/multiple Video/monitor configuration, any comments, recommendations, and ideas for its use (i.e. displays/programs implemented etc.) sure would be appreciated.Respectfully:RTH

March 19, 200818 yr Moderator Hi RTH,<>I took the decision a couple of years ago when I built a new PC that the old one still had plenty of life in it and that it could be useful with FS. After some help from a friend in setting up a network I bought WideFS and from there on I've never looked back.Last year I added a laptop to my system. You can see in my sig what I run on the WideFS PCs. The biggest gain is FS which now has virtually no competition for resources and runs more smoothly. You won't get more FPS but the gains are still considerable. It's easiest to setup a network if all PCs have XP but it shouldn't be too difficult with Windows98. There's no problem using WideFS on either OS.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). March 19, 200818 yr Author Ray:What programs/displays do you implement with FS useing wideFS?Thanks for the reply:RTHSorry for the duplication. I really don't know why, I just hit her once.

March 19, 200818 yr Author Thanks Bic:Are you useing WideFS or Wideview (or both)? A second MSFSX or particularly FS9 should not be that difficult or expensive to aquire now. I guess I thought Wideview was only for spreading a view (panel) over multiple monitors. I didn't realize that it could be used for multiple windows for the same unique flight. Do you see a real advantage in Wideview over WideFS? Yea, I know I am pretty ignorant on this subject, but that is the reason I am asking these questions. I appreciate your comments. Thanks again. RTH

March 19, 200818 yr Author WOW!I may be over my head relative to synergy.I went to the sourceforge.net site and downloaded the following files after a search for "synergy"."sbus32-release2.ps""sbus-docs-revision1.gz""sbus-symbol.zip""synergybus-0.01.gz"I will have to chew on this a bit. I don't really know what to do with them after unzipping them, nor even how to open the documentation yet. Sometimes ignorance is not bliss. Thanks for the info:RTH

March 19, 200818 yr Author Great!I am not certain what I was finding in my previous search.I did a simple google search for "synergy" and did find the following files:"synergy-1.3.1-1.OSX.tar""synergy-1.3.1.i386.rpm.gz""synergyInstaller-1.3.1.exe"The "OSX.tar" file has complete documentation.I'm not sure what the ".i386.rpm.gz" file is yetI have not tried the installer yet, but believe I now have something with which I can work thanks to your kind information. Now to drag the old unit down and see what developes. I probably will take the next few days for this, but will post my results. I am not clear as of yet as to exactly what I have that will be useable with this configuration (or what I might add).I sure do appreciate your consideration and help.Respectfully:RTH

You probably don't need that, unless your going to use Linux. The .tar is Linux tape archive format (sort of like zip, but without compression) - usually used if you want build from source. The .exe should have all the help doc in Windows format. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
