April 14, 200818 yr Was looking for an inexpensive interim PC for FSX until FSXI is sorted out. Best Buy has this Gateway Q9300 available for $1100. One reviewer said he found out that the power supply is only 400w, and I noticed that the 4Gb RAM is 5300 variety. Still it seems like a pretty good unit and the price seems very reasonable. Would appreciate any comments/opinions.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...7#productdetailThanks!Bruce
April 14, 200818 yr What are your expectations? From the looks of it, that rig will CERTAINLY handle FSX. I run a C2Duo, 4GB, and a 8800GT and I am very happy with the simulator. Your potential system is a C2Quad with a higher clock speed than my computer, so I can only imagine better performance. Mind you, I do not run the sim at 100% FULL sliders, which is still a challenge for many system, but FSX is still smooth and gorgeous with my computer, and I'm sure it will be for yours too.
April 14, 200818 yr Yeah, probably not the best performance ever, large cities will still give you trouble.Hi Greg! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 15, 200818 yr Author Greg & Ryan - Thanks for your responses. My expectations/hopes would be to fly the default jets with real world GMAX type paints between major airports without stutters and blurries on takeoff and landing with a reasonable amount of weather, autogen, and traffic. I would also like to add the top 4-5 scenery add-ons. I don't care where the sliders are I just want fluid, stutter free, top notch visuals. I know that's a big order for FSX though.Bruce
