May 26, 200818 yr FS9 clocds were not made right... a big design flaw IMHOIf you want to really get the most out of dense weather in FS9 do the following...FSUIPC:Get the registerd version of FSUIPC for FS9 and install it... You will need to boot the sim and open the registered version of FSUIPC to set it up... once complete you must close and reopen the sim: Boot a flight, any flight. Hit the ALT key, Select MODULES - FSUIPC Make the following changes for awesome weather and reduced hit on performance Winds Tab
May 26, 200818 yr Moderator Hi Chuck,Impressive system! I see it ships with a guard dog . ;-)Enjoy your flying and I would add one other recommendation to Nick's excellent list. Ken Salter's Alacrity is a great tool for running FS. It allows you to shutdown all non-esential services.Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). May 26, 200818 yr Author Thank you Ray! Yes, and it ships with a guard dog -- a good old sleepy guard dog! Would you say Alacrity is better than Ken Salter's FSAutoStart? May 26, 200818 yr >Ken Salter's Alacrity is a great tool for running FS. It allows you to shutdown all non-esential services. Not needed on modern systems with a minimum of 2GB of memory and the user has correctly gone through the startup system and killed (permanently) everything not needed at boot.. Its a bit redundant, many services that are not being polled are being shut down for no reason and many times people shut things down they shouldn't on modern systemsAs far as I am concerned the software had solid use in the days of 512-1GB memory and slower procs... today the advantages in using such software are no longer there and in many cases it can have a negative effect.. usually it nets no change other than placebo
May 26, 200818 yr Moderator Ken replaced FSAutoStart with Alacrity. I note Nick's comments but still prefer to close non-essential apps whilst flying. Ray (Cheshire, England).
