8800 GTS and latest nvidia driver

Featured Replies

HiI have the card mentioned above on XP SP2 and FS9.1.My forceware is 162.18. some 1 year old.I use nhancer for the settings. My question is;will I get better performance if I upgrade to a more recent forceware?and which one should I choose? To do the install, I will need to kill the current driver before reinstalling the new one. Will I need to apply nhancer again?Thank you for your helpGhiom

the latest driver is the nvidia 175.16. I am using it without any problems with an 8800GT, 512 megs of ram. use the windows add and remove program to remove your current driver. reboot into safe mode and then install the 175.16 driver. I know nvidia gives you an option to simply install over your existing driver, but the consensus seems to be that it is best to remove all traces of your previous driver first.you will not need to uninstall and reinstall nhancer. it will recognize the new driver.sherm

This is just a note of "thanks" for the info on going back to the 175.16 driver, do to the latest not giving a better performance!!.........I was having problems getting a good scene and thought it was something I had done.......once I removed the newest one, used the free drivercleaner Pro, and put in the previous one, my scenery is great!! These posts are VERY HELPFUL!! B42L8
