July 8, 200817 yr Commercial Member My ATI AIW X800XT 256MB card has just hit the skids. Not worried about it, I went to the ATI website. Since the AMD takeover they are only giving out 1 year warranties now?And then I did a quick look at Nvidia - they are 3 years!? Is this die hard ATI user for 5 years being forced to move over to their arch enemy!? Did I read the warranty info correctly? July 8, 200817 yr Each Nvidia Vcard manufacturer provides their own warranty. They are all different. For instance XFX has a lifetime warranty that is transferable to the next owner. PNY provides 1 year only (if that). Gotta check with the mfg. If you're a heavy user, buy from a reputable company - with a lifetime warranty - that might actually be around for a lifetime (or at least the next decade). Video card Do go bad after years and years. My 4200 finally quit. It had a lifetime warranty, but the company had changed their name and joined ATI camp. I was outa luck. Cost me money to replace it. It should have been free. Drats.
July 8, 200817 yr It's all about the lifetime of the manufacturer or reseller, isn't it?If you run a business it's allways wise to run it into a solid bankruptcy, before you start up a new business. Make sure that no promises to your customers will ever survive the bankruptcy or takeover before firing up a new venture. Remember it's all about the money. If you know that your business is going south, advertise a brand new project and convince your customers to make advance buys. This money for nothing will be very usefull when you move on.Ulf B

July 8, 200817 yr I'm convinced that all computer hardware is made to last so long and then when it breaks we spend more $$$$ Thats what it is all about! Nothing is easy, look at this forum. FSX should be load and play like other games but it is not!!!! Have to have a high $ killer machine and be a computer wiz to make all these tweaks work, for some people it takes the fun out of it and for others they like tweaking, changing codes, adding &^%^&**($%#@?? Oh well, its our hobby and I love it!Best,Lamar Regards Lamar Wright
