September 23, 200817 yr Hello,I have an ASUS A8n sli motherboard. It has the following CPU spec:-Supports AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64FX/Athlon 64 X2/Athlon 64It presently has the Athlon 64 3500+ cpu.Is there a CPU upgrade for that socket that is worth the upgrade price? Thanks again all,Cheers,Ron Sagel
September 23, 200817 yr I think the socket 939 CPUs are becoming so rare that they cost more than the newer ones, and only go to 4800+ (if you can find one). I would go with a new motherboard and CPU.ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX(SP1-SP2), Audigy SE sound, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor Art
September 23, 200817 yr He's right, you'd be better off getting an entirely new motherboard, and going with an Intel CPU, like the E8500That probably also means you'll need new RAM, the DDR2 RAM. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
