October 2, 200817 yr "---how do you manage two 3D views without it turning into a slide show?"----------------Art- does "3D" refer to a virtual panel? If so, not sure I can help. My reference to multiple views is for a 2D panel. With 2D, I have 3 views- LFWD,FWD,RFwd on triple monitors plus most gauge popups open for instant reference and use. The L&R view angles are tweaked slightly to correspond to whatever the width of the monitor bezels that separate the views. It is a very simple calc. with an accuracy to 100th of a degree of shift! The result is exactly the same as in your car- there is always a slice of scenery hidden behind the windshield pillars. But your eyes/brain see the whole scenery panorama (side windows + windshield) as a single scene. The pillars "disappear"!No slide show here- I can run PMDG 747 with quite acceptable frame rates on a 5 year old AMD Athlon 1.8 with 2 GeForce FX5200 GPUs. The FPS penalty for 2 views appears to be 33% and 50% for 3 views. Since my settings yield approx 30-45 FPS with one monitor, I get about 15-22 with 3 monitors/views. Absolutely steady, no stutters. The end result is that effectively, I am running 3072x768 resolution. That's a 300% pixel increase with only a 50% drop in the rate the pixels are displayed! It's what I call- a good investment!!!!!!!!!!!Alex ReidPMDG 747 @CYVR Holding R26L (screenshots do not show monitor bezels)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/192918.jpg
October 2, 200817 yr That's a nice display Alex. When I asked the question, I forgot that I wasn't in the FSX forum (as happened in my coments to Bill), and now assume that you're running FS9.I agree with your comments on the value of using two monitors for a variety of applications, which is my practice with a 2nd 19" monitor. I still have FS9 on the computer, and may play around with the wider view. My previous unsuccessful attempts were with FSX.Bill has apparently already gone the multiple monitor way using TH2Go and decided one widescreen monitor is more tidy, which is currently my feeling (except using FSX).ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX(SP1-SP2), Audigy SE sound, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor Art
October 2, 200817 yr Art- the limitation with TH2Go is that it produces only the single View Forward- albeit stretched over 3 mons. But still only a 45
