November 9, 200817 yr Ahhh, value for money. Well, I look at this way. Now I've got the good stuff, I wouldn't want to use anything else. Even with everything tuned correctly (as I understand it) FSX still only gives what I would rate as reasonable overall performance. So every little bit of extra help counts for something. However, if I had to justify the economics of buying expensive RAM - not to mention the time fiddling around trying to optimise it - I'd struggle. At current prices, pursuing the absolute best is strictly for hobbyists (or fanatics / lunatics / compulsive obsessives, obviously - assuming they're different from hobbyists).Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. November 9, 200817 yr Then there are people like me who own property all over the country along with toys like a Ferrari and a yachtthe computer costs are toy purchases to meat the same time I challenge anyone who has seen the difference to go back to what they had.. even if they could have their money back in the processLOLi7 will push FSX into the realm of giving the user what they get with the expensive parts and tweaking.. without the tweaking. And DDR3 was designed for i7. How it is used today was just a stepping stone to that event.Costs will come down as well. Just like it took 2-3 years for hardware to step into the full-on FS9 zone, so shall it be with FSXIts my understanding however they are taking much better care in production of FS11

I am running them at 7-6-6-1T tRD 6 no problem. I find that beyond FSB of 1600, EXACTLY, I have memory errors. I run NB voltage only at 1.39, and I think GTL on Auto or 1.20 I forget. I'm pretty happy with performance with these "easy" settings. I run the modules at 1.88v. (I think they are rated 1.90 tops for warranty by Mushkin). Would it behoove me to shoot anything better in terms of latency OR bandwidth, or just leave it be since it's stable as it is now? I'm married to these parts until probably 3-4y from now. Oh, and this is critical: don't want no FRIED PARTS, no matter what!NoelQX9650 w/ Retail HSF|ASUS P5E3 Premium WiFi|4GB Muskin Ascent 7-6-6-18 1T DDR3-1600|EVGA 8800GT|Seagate SATA 2 x 2|Seagate Cheetah 15K.x|XP Pro SP2|Vista 64--maybe never to be installed Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. November 9, 200817 yr Nice clock NoelSince you have a QX I assume you are crusing 10x400Given that, yes 1800 @ 2:1 would provide another boost however the cost of going to that vs the result would be better left to a year from now when 1800 memory and even better in DDR3 2x2GB will be available and I am sure much cheaperA VC upgrade and memory upgrade later would be your next change which is what I meant when I said some time ago you still have room for upgrades where with DDR2 you were stuck dead

November 9, 200817 yr >You will probably need to work NB voltage, GTL and SKEW to get>OCZ sticks stableA little update - Since I flashed to the new BIOS 0701 for the Rampage Extreme last week I did not have a chance to try again at reaching 1600 with the OCZ. With this discussion I got a little curious and started to play with some settings again this time with the new BIOS revision. After looking through the OCZ forums I realized that this RAM can be brought up to a VDIMM of 2.0V without invalidating their lifetime warranty. Bringing the DRAM voltage up a little at a time to 1.98806 has now allowed me to get over 1600 at 7-7-7-24 with this memory. I
November 10, 200817 yr I'm not that rich, 80,000/year. Maybe Nick, you can help me buy that i7 DDR3 system, LOL! :) At least you'd know your money went to a good place.-jk
