Serious Recommendation Needed On MOBO

Featured Replies

I Currently Have the EVGA Nvidia 680i MOBO and Have been UNHAPPY with its overclocking but, did not have the means to replace it. Well Now it is starting to loose its CMOS battery and giving me more boot troubles. SO i need to replace it. I have heard alot of good on the Intel chipsets so thats what I am thinking about getting. I only have means to replace board (would love to replace CPU). Could Someone Suggest a replacement board for me? I will be using my existing RAM, CPU, ETC...CPU Q6600Crucial Ballistix 2048MB DDR2 1066MHEVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MBWD Raptor 80GB 10K RPM HDDThanks For Thee Assist!

Ive heard that the P5Q Pro by Asus is good for the Q6600Maximus (?) is best but expensive still

If you really want to clock with stability and get the most out of the board possible the Asus Rampage Formula is a great board

I have had good luck with the Asus P5Q pro, and the Q9550. I have it overclocked at 4 ghz, and stable for 13 hours in Orthos. I had no problems getting it to 4 Ghz. It should be a good stable board with a Q6600. Bill

I use AMD chips, HOWEVER.....ASUS has ALWAYS been fanatical about supporting the "cutting edge" overclocker; making their boards with solid-state capacitors, etc. I am overclocking my 2.5Ghz quad core to 2.63Ghz on air-cooled. Granted, not a lot, but I didn't need to push it further. :)ASUS is A+ in my book.

I have the P5Q...be careful about BIOS updates: you cannot use the software supplied for it but must do it old school.http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx?board...SLanguage=en-usOtherwise a good board.
Well After reading all these post and others in other boards I got the p5q motherboard from asus with the intel p45 chipset. I installed it to day. I thought i might have to reinstall windows xp but I did not have to. It booted right up. I loaded the correct chipset, sound, ethernet drivers and BAM its done. So, I go into to FSX and had to ReActivate FSX (no big deal) then I noticed after loading my default flight the the Frames were better. Yup you heard right. The CPU is not overclocked as much as on the EVGA/Nvidia board and the frames are better. I am very delighted. I am only OC'ing to 3.0 Ghz. I am going to play with that later I heard I can get 3.6 on air with this CPU & motherboard combo. Thanks for the Advice Guys! :(EDIT: now I need to Change my Sig I guess!
