  1. I have been running my older PC for years without upgrade. I noticed MegaScenery Earth was on sale and was thinking of picking up my State. Since receiving my PPL I thought it would be great for preflight FSX flights. My fear is that it will bring my system to a halt. Does anybody have opinions about this product? Does it create a FPS drag on your system Mine Q9400 4 Gig Ram 1 Gig Video My avg FPS with most A/C is 18-20 FPS. thanks for opinion.
  2. I flew over sumter for my Long CrossCountry Solo Flight just a couple month ago. Really liked how the Shaw Approach Controllers Treated me even when I flew close to Poinsett Restricted Airspace....
  3. FOXNEWS REPORTING It has now been confirmed that earlier reporting by media outlets concerning the recalibration of the fligh simulator yoke by Malaysia Airline Pilot, Captain Zaharie Amad Shah, whom is known to be the Captian of the missing Malaysian Airline Flight 370 to be mis-reported. Earlier report state the the Pilot, Captain Zaharie Amad Shah, recalibrated his CH product yoke 3 days before the incident. New information obtained from the Kremlins news source RT and ex-NSA concractor, Edward Snowden, show that thier was no recaibraltion of said flight simulator yoke. These new reports show that the famed pilot used FSUIPC to adjust the AXIS assignment pages for a new Siatek Yoke purchased from an online retailer 2 days before Malaysia Flight 370 was to depart. The Malaysian Government is now looking into Online Retailers selling Flight Simulation products to find out if Captain Zaharie Amad Shah had other purchases that may not have reached him before he allegedly moved him family home. Greta Van Sweatstain will have more at 9pm EST on FOX. This is how it seems to be progressing on the major News outlets..... They are going to run out of 777 pilots to interview soon and will have to start featuring Vans RV-10 kit builders.... Lord Have Mercy.
  4. That is what is so absurd about the news reporting of FSX and his sim.

  6. A friend shared this with me after my Checkride today Santa Claus, like all pilots, gets regular visits from the Federal Aviation Administration, and the FAA examiner arrived last week for the pre-Christmas flight check. In preparation, Santa had the elves wash the sled and bathe all the reindeer. Santa got his log book out and made sure all his paperwork was in order. He knew they would examine all his equipment and truly put Santa's flying skills to the test. The examiner walked slowly around the sled. He checked the reindeer harnesses, the landing gear, and even Rudolph's nose. He painstakingly reviewed Santa's weight and balance calculations for sled's enormous payload. Finally, they were ready for the check ride. Santa got in and fastened his seat belt and shoulder harness and checked the compass. Then the examiner hopped in carrying, to Santa's surprise, a shotgun. "What's that for?!?" asked Santa incredulously. The examiner winked and said, "I'm not supposed to tell you this ahead of time," as he leaned over to whisper in Santa's ear, "but you're gonna lose an engine on takeoff."

  9. Hello Avsim Members I have been away for a long while. I continued to Fly my sim (FSX) but since August this year I have been taking lessons. I am at 41.4 Hours now and am scheduling my CheckRide for PPL in two weeks. So Excited (and aprehensive)! My instructor is an Active Duty Naval Aviator (Rank of Commander) He is currently doing shore duty as Commanding Officer of Local Navy Individual Augmentee Center Training. To keep flying he has been a CFI here at our local airport. He spent 10 years training Naval Aviators at Pensecola. Being an Ex-navy Guy It has been great being instructed by someone I used to have to salute . He still uses terms like "wave off" instead of "go-around" and "180" inplace of "Abeam" the numbers....ETC..... So anyway, He has told me that I have been the fastest learner he has ever had, He said my instrument work was incredible. After 3-4 flights he said i should continue to do whatever it was doing on the sim. In truth, for the last 4-5 weeks i havnt simmed any. There are alot of things that are just so different from the sim but with that said alot of stuff is RIGHT on target. Forward Slip To land seems hard to to in the Sim but in the plane its an Awesome manuever. Crosswinds int eh sim and nothing like Real life. Oh I could go on and on..... I was wondering is anybody knew of a thrid party Bendix/King KLN89b gps I could add on to FSX. I need to get better with using the one in My training plane. (99 172sp) Only weeks away from CheckRide! Wish me Luck! Gary

  16. I am not a repainter and I would love to see someone make a C-9 Skytrain (navy) Nightingale(USAF) for the SkySim DC-9For that matter. I have a business Idea for a aircraft repainter.Do repaints for Cash. Send in your picture and the repaint would be created for your favorite aircraft for a small fee $9.99 maybe, then you could sell it to others.Just an idea, I think CLS has something like this for only their aircraft.Gary
