July 25, 200916 yr Neat!Last year I spent my lunch there watching arriving aircraft. As a Tripacer was departing, I noticed it climbing away a little too steep and slow. It finally nosed over and then mushed over on the left wing, striking the ground. Pretty terrifying. And also surreal as no one else actually realized there was a problem (lots of non-pilots/non aviation enthusiast around there!). No one was killed, thankfully. Year before that was the Breitling Mustang crash I observed:-\ Anyway, very interesting to watch that chaotic scene, but nail biting too. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
July 25, 200916 yr Author Moderator Now showing the Beech "mass arrivals..." Along with some Cessna stragglers. Apparently last night's weather delayed quite a few... ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I just watched 'em tow away some a/c on a lowboy that'd gone splat while I wasn't watching... :( Fr. It looked like one of the old "war movies" with all the a/c arriving in close sequence! :( Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
July 26, 200916 yr Author Moderator Oh no you're not!(gonna keep the other thread on top)... :( The tower controllers who volunteer their time every year are simply the "best of the best" there are, anywhere in the world...I must confess though that I'm astonished that the "other thread" has had twice the number of views as this one......and here I've been all these years thinking that the members/visitors here at AVSIM were actually interested in aircraft!Silly me! :( Fr. July 27, 200916 yr Thanks for the link! Great stuff! I'm really enjoying. First time I've ever heard the "green dot"; "purple dot"; "yellow dot" being used. Not really sure what they mean but suspect they put something on the runways? Jim

That way you get multiple airplanes landing on the same runway at the same time. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

July 27, 200916 yr Author Moderator No problem. This morning they are using 18L/18R. The Ford Trimotor is busy flying circuits with paying pax, and there are still a lot of arrivals and departures... Very busy morning! If anyone is looking right now, you can see the "blue dot" just past the numbers on 18R. Fr.
