A myriad of problems, please help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,First off, let me put this strait right here: in every flight, I NEVER shortcut the minutes. I always wait patiently through the 45 minutes. Now, here are the following problems:1. DOORS - This is where it all starts. I uninstalled and reinstalled FS2C and patched it. There isn't anything assigned for the doors, at all. I personally don't care, but I feel like that is the root of all of my problems.2. Engine Start - When he says "Start 3-4" he reaches up and pulls all four levers and then turns all of the fuel levers to "on". Then he turns them off once they complete the spool up. Then I tell him to start 1-2 and I have to pull everything because he pulls and pushes them back and cuts the fuel off. 3. The screen goes black on the EICAS way before it should, way before. 4. He makes a mess out of the lights, an absolute mess.5. At the transition ALT I can't get the STD to come up, it shows yellow.6. On Descent: At FL100, it doesn't turn the landing lights on.7. On the landing procedure, it may or may not do the flaps and then it just becomes a freak'n nightmare at that point. Can anybody help me. I have uninstalled and re-installed/patched. I have prayed and ******* told me he doesn't mess with FS, only souls. I am at about my whits end.ThanksWilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Hello Wilson,Take deep breath.... :-)Your PMDG 747 was totally current with all the latest PMDG updates prior to installing FS2Crew I assume. Are you using the FS2Crew panel state before each flight? It's important that the 747 panel be setup the way the FS2Crew FO expects it to be setup, or switches will be thrown out of sequence.Remember the FS2Crew FO can't read the position of most the switches. He just presses them regardless and assumes the switch is in the correct position. If you load the panel state and follow the flows properly, the switches will be in the correct position.Doors: What do you mean by there isn't anything assigned to the doors? When you installed FS2Crew, the installer should have overwrote your PMDG keyboard INI file with a version that includes all the settings required by FS2Crew.In the FS2Crew Main Ops manual, a list of FS2Crew required keyboard assignments is available. Cross check that against your existing PMDG Keyboard assignment.Engines: Watch the demo-tutorial video again. I suspect your problem may be related to not having the panel setup prior to activating FS2Crew.http://66.135.39.111/fs2crew/FS2Crew747Video1.zipSo in summary:1. Check your PMDG keyboard assignments against the Main Ops manual.2. Make sure nothing is intercepting your keypress (Squawk Box window in focus).3. Make sure the FS2Crew PMDG 747 panel state is loaded prior to each flight to ensure everything is where FS2Crew thinks they should be.4. Try following the tutorial flight again. It's always good for a refresher.Chrs,Bryan

I uninstalled and re-installed and still no doors. I had all the same symptoms except the STD problem went away. I am at cruise level and so far so good. I will discuss any nightmare landings at the other side of this flight LOLWilson HinesMy Blog: http://www.wilsonhines.com --------------------------------------http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpghttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/837438/3074.png

Hi Wilson,Doors: Before you activate FS2Crew, are your doors closed? They should be.If they're not the doors will be thrown out of sequence. Also, make sure you're running no other programs that try to control doors. FSPassengers can control doors, so make sure you disable its ability to control doors if running FSPassegers. Finally, look at the FS2Crew keyboard assignments for the doors.FS2Crew controls the doors by making the same keypress -literally- you would make to open/close the doors. It's the simple.Chrs,Bryan

Hi Wilson,I got FS2CREW 747 about 3 weeks ago and used it when you and I flew VHHH-VTBS the other night with no problems. BUT, when I first got it I had all the problems that you are having and it took me 35 odd frustrating hours of flying offline before I managed to crack it.The 2 killers I had were my FMC in keyboard mode and any Squawkbox windows "Active". As FS2CREW 747 uses keystrokes you have to get used to when the countdown timer is going to issue commands. If someone "Chats" with you in Squawkbox the focus goes to the chat window and if FS2CREW issues a keystroke at that time it will appear in your chat window (or FMC)I have now got the FS2CREW procedures running sweetley and can get through all the setups in about 7 minutes advancing the clock. How about we do a short flight (maybe the tutorial) together online and walk through what is going on at your end. (assuming it is not a install problem. If it is you can report back to Brian) You have my email address so let me know. RobertWA547

Hi Robert,The weird thing is I have flown hundreds of hours BEFORE these problems arose. That is the frustrating part.Your two issues were the FMC in keyboard mode and the SB3 in "active mode." I never use the keyboard mode because the fs2c manual states this can be a problem. SB3 is running on another computer entirely and coming through WideFS. As far as advancing the clock, I have NEVER been able to advance the clock even 1 minutes without paying consequences with the doors. Now the door keystrokes mysteriously disappeared - go figure. You know me Robert, I am ready and willing to fly anytime! Lets do it!>Hi Wilson,>I got FS2CREW 747 about 3 weeks ago and used it when you and I>flew VHHH-VTBS the other night with no problems. >>BUT, when I first got it I had all the problems that you are>having and it took me 35 odd frustrating hours of flying>offline before I managed to crack it.>>The 2 killers I had were my FMC in keyboard mode and any>Squawkbox windows "Active". >>So what are the doors doing wrong for you?As a summary of what happened last night with the last flight I took, at FL180 (transition alt for USA) the STD went yellow and wouldn't do right. Hi Wilson,I'm glad to hear you're getting things worked out.Doors: If your doors won't open even when you manually make the keypresses directly (by hand) then I'm not sure.I might suggest posting that question in the PMDG forum. To control the doors, FS2Crew just makes the same keypress you'd make to control the doors. It's very simple.STD Button: Why it's intermittent for you I'm not sure. The way it works for the STD button is that FS2Crew places a transparent gauge over the STD button. When you press that clickspot, FS2Crew plays a sound and then makes a keypress to effectively press the STD button, which lies beneath the FS2Crew gauge. They keypress FS2Crew makes to press the STD Button is:CTRL TAB LSee if you can control the STD button using CTRL TAB L manually. There are two things you can do if you want to disable the FS2Crew STD button/call.1. In the panel.cfg file, change:gauge22=fs2crew747Pgcrew70!gcrew70, 517,499,40,30to:gauge22=fs2crew747Pgcrew70!gcrew70, 1,1,1,12. Simply switch the VC. The FS2Crew STD clickspot area could not be added to the VC, so there is no FS2Crew go-between.All the best,Bryan

Ok I fixed this crap.I checked the PMDG menu's key bindings and they were every single one blank. I looked everything up in the manual and successfull reset everything. I took off from Hong Kong and landed at Kai Tak IGS 13 approach and everything worked like a charm. The only question I have is WHY wouldn't the installer install th key bindings when I installed for the fourth time :)Thanks

Wilson,I'm happy to hear you got it all solved. As to why the installer did not automatically update your PMDG keyboard setting, my guess is you have a registry problem. The FSX demo has been known to corrupt the FS9 registry entry. The FS9 Registry Repair Tool often helps if you experience install related problems:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryChrs,Bryan
