CTD on reload

Recommended Posts

When i run FSX SP1 after starting the computer or after a reboot, everything works fine.If i exit the first flight, select anything else and try to reload, FSX reload completely but when it reaches 100%, the hourglass appearch, the HD starts to rattle and then... CTD! with the option the send info to MS and to reload. If i reload, i always end up with the same CTD.The only way to prevent this is to reboot. I then can make one flight but if i exit and return to the main screen or exit completly and and run FSX without reboot or restart of the computer, i always have a CTD.I experience this only after the SP1 update.Anyone else with this problem?

I had the same problem after installing SP1 on top of my existing FSX. I reinstalled FSX using the following method which is slightly differet from FSInsider and haven't had a CTD since:1. Remove FSX from Add/Remove Programs or from FSX Disk 1.2. Manually delete the C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFSX folder (don't touch the FS9 one if you have that installed!)Also remove these foldersDocuments and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftFSXDocuments and Settingsyour user nameApplication DataMicrosoftFSXSave Logbook.bin & GrantedRewards.bin if you don't want to start over on flight time and mission rewards.3. Defrag now.4. Install FSX clean from the DVD (uncheck the box that says run FSX after install) DO NOT RUN FSX! 5. Install the VS 2005 SP1 redistributable if you haven't already.6. Install SP1. (do not run FSX yet.)7. Reboot then run FSX and activate8. Install latest DirectX 9.0c drivers dated 04/2007.9. Defrag again.
