CD players in Bill Lyons a/c

Featured Replies

It seems that some people have trouble with the CD players that commonly feature in Bill's a/c - in fact, I think that he says that if you have trouble with low FPS with these a/c , then you should remove the CD players from the panel.I don't have any trouble with these at all on my old AMD 2400 system - in fact, I place a CD player into all my a/c VC's wherever I can (some a/c don't have space) This allows me to listen to my favourite music as I fly - all controllable from the VC.I am intrigued as to why some have problems with these CD players and some don't . Any ideas??Barry

Hi BarryIve used it in some aircraft and have found on faster machines it causes a pause as it polls an external DX9 function, factor in that some system have the cdrom on the same channel as HD (also if you have the enable digital cd audio) can cause a lot of traffic on the ide buss which cause slow downs as it get sorted or at worst CTDcheersWozza

how would one go about removing the cd player?Ian

In the panel CFG file , look for any entry that refers to the radio CDFor example gauge09=radiocd4!radiocd, 66,33,192,43There are a number of these CD gauges and they have slightly different names.Barry

I would recommend not removing the line, but just put // in front of the entry, this way you can always go back to what you had.Example Before: gauge09=radiocd4!radiocd, 66,33,192,43Example After: //gauge09=radiocd4!radiocd, 66,33,192,43
