March 9, 200719 yr amazing scenery, but the buildings popping up so extremely late is annoying..other than that, great scenery, kinda comparable with aerosoft's manhattan :)
March 9, 200719 yr I like the ground detail, I would hope something like this continues in the LA area to include major locations like Warner Bros Studios, Paramount, and Universal to name a few (the LA Zoo would be cool too). :-) FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
March 9, 200719 yr Author I would like San Diego downtown near the airport... cause then that comes into play when you approach to land.;)In the case of LAX downtown, I now would have to take a detour before landing in KLAX.:(Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
March 10, 200719 yr Hi folks,Thanks for mentioning my work!Just a few words as how to get the most out of this scenery from my point of view.First of all it's a "low and slow" scenery. It's best explored via helicopter and at low speeds (50kts or less) and at low altitude (500ft-2.500ft). I say again: HELICOPTER. If you are new to helicopters I can really recommend going to www.hovercontrol.com. Of especial importance are right settings for realism and control sensitivity. They can be found here: http://www.hovercontrol.com/artman/publish/article_23.shtmlNothing beats the feeling of "depth below you" when you lift off from one of the taller buildings:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168196.jpgI can't show this in a screenshot but I found it amazing. Then, take a look at the many smaller buildings. Some have interesting textures:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168197.jpgAnd some are architecturaly interesting, like the Los Angeles Cathedral.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168198.jpgFinally, don't miss the giant Los Angeles Police Department Heliport:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/168199.jpgAs for the late popups of buildings. That's true. Smaller buildings pop up relatively late. That's especially anoying at higher speeds. It was necessary to keep the framerate up on my system. I'll compile another version with a higher minimal popup distance. But this version will have a higher performance impact! It will just be a single .bgl file of about 1MB, so keep the other 94MB of the scenery till then ;-)Another observation was that 50kts seem like 200kts with this scenery. That might be true as well. Because of the higher resolution you pass many more pixels per time which gives you the feeling of a higher speed. But that's the right kind of feeling. With normal resolution scenery the speed just seems too slow. --------------------------- Blue Skies, Gottfried www.blueskyscenery.com
