March 11, 200719 yr Ok, let's forget the actual ATC command for a second. Dave, is your question actually why is atc giving you a runway assignment that is with the wind instead of against it?
March 11, 200719 yr Author Dave, yes but forget it mate, I think they are 'working to rule' on here and I've lost interest now................ Dave Taylor
March 11, 200719 yr I cannot find an ATC voice command which would give you a command to land on the downwind side of a runway and use the word Downwind. The only place I can find that word in the ATC code is to enter the VFR pattern.Do you hear that instruction / word anywhere else?FS uses the 'light and variable winds' definition of the US FAA for most airports, and is usually around 8 kts. The wind must be greater than 8 kts to make the airport switch away from the preferred runway at most airports. There are many with higher wind requirements. Jim Vile has a good description on the PAI forums - http://www.projectai.com/discuss/index.php...ic,53676.0.html
March 11, 200719 yr What do you mean "working to rule"? You asked a valid question, and several of us that know aviation well enough to answer told you what it means.... if you need more information and more explanations, then let us know.Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
March 11, 200719 yr Sure seems to me that he just doesn't want to admit that he didn't understand the instructions given, or that he assumed they meant something they didn't.But maybe it's just me... Regards,Brian Doney
March 11, 200719 yr Author Okay guys, I just simulated the situation again and your right, I was wrong.Seems we learn a little more every day eh? :-) Dave Taylor
