Aircraft Texture not appearing

Featured Replies

Hi..hope you can help with my problem..here it is..When a choose *some* aircraft whether default or add-ons..sometimes..the texture of the aircraft is not appearing.. (Liveries)it shows only plain gray model of the aircraft and still shows no paints every time i fly it..in some instances it shows some *partial* paint but the rest its all gray...can someone help me with this..your help will be very much appreciated..Thanks in Advance...

First of all check the aircraft.cfg file in the aircraft folder you're having problems with. Here's two entries from the default 737[fltsim.0]title=Boeing 737-400sim=Boeing737-400model=panel=sound=texture=kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_checkkb_reference=Boeing737-400_refatc_id=N737Zatc_airline=American Pacificatc_flight_number=1123ui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type="737-400"ui_variation="American Pacific Airways"[fltsim.1]title=Boeing 737-400 Paint1sim=Boeing737-400model=panel=sound=texture=1kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_checkkb_reference=Boeing737-400_refatc_id=N737Watc_airline=Landmarkatc_flight_number=1123ui_manufacturer=Boeingui_type="737-400"ui_variation="Landmark Airlines"You will see the texture line is different. The entry refers to the appropriate texture folder. If there is nothing after the equal sign then it refers to the "texture" folder. Anything else refers to what's after the dot, as in "texture.1". If that all seems correct, check you have the correct amount of files in each texture folder. The basic "texture" folder will have them all but any repaints might have some missing, normally those for wings etc which will be the same for any livery. Just copy over any that are missing.Hope that's clear.John

Another potential culprit is your processor/graphic card running too hot - does it do this all the time, or just after you've been flying for a while? If the latter, you may be getting overheated.;)

If the aircraft texture is not showing at all in the FS Aircraft Selection Screen then it is most likely an Aircraft.cfg file issue as stated above. Make sure that when you add an add-on that you install all the textures in the texture file. Some add-ons (repaints) have multiple textures within the main folder that need to be installed individualy. When you mention ,..."shows some partial paint...", leads me to believe that the add-ons (repaints) were not installed correctly.Could you give a specific example of which aircraft model repaints this occurs with? Maybe I, or someone else will have the same model and could try to add the repaint to see if there are any special steps that need to be taken to make the aircraft appear correctly.John M

This is not necessarily to do with aircraft.cfg files. It can also be from how the graphics port uses system memory for texture buffering. Check the following in Performance Options>Advanced Tab>Optimize Performance for:You should have "Applications" selected, not "Background Services."The reason for the intermittent manifestation of this I would think has to do with available system memory, which varies, hence you can have everything from some to all textures missing.Good luck!Noel
