"showing hidden files" and "application data" for FS9.cfg

Featured Replies

Hey All,I'm having a huge issue right now. I can not access my FS9.cfg, because....my computer won't let me show Hidden Files!I go Control Panel>Folder Options>Show Hidden Files and check the show box. I hit apply, but then I open it again, and it has "hide hidden files", no matter what I do.Any Idea?

Something forcing hidding files sounds suspicious to me. Maybe run some antivirus and antimalware scans. As for the FS9.cfg file, it's not a hidden file itself, so you should be able to get to it.Go to Start > Run, then enter the following: %appdata%MicrosoftFS9

I didn't know how to open my FS9 file before, but here'e how I do it thanks from the help of a couple of fellow sim posters. My Computor > Local Disk C: > Documents and Settings > "Your Name" > My Documents > FS9 cfg file. Right click on the FS9 cfg file icon and when the drop down menu appears, click on " Open with Note Pad."Hope this help some.Roger

That's not the correct path.

Try this in the "Run" box:notepad "%APPDATA%MicrosoftFS9fs9.CFG"Jim

Hi JIm,You were one of the sim-helpers re my above post. You told me about cfg files being txt files and to drag and drop them into Note Pad. What an eye opener that was for me! My Cessna 172 hasn't been its old self since. Thanks again. By the way, I've book marked your web site. A recommend for the computer-challenged like me.Roger

Hi guys, Thanks!I can get it via the "run" menu. However, I wish I could just display hidden files. I have CA internet security.
