DME issues

Featured Replies

Hi,It seems like pretty much everytime I fly an ILS, I never get any distance readout which is obviously pretty important in IMC. I was wondering if there is some kind of patch of update available to fix this issue. Thanks,Jeff

I suspect that less than half of the RW ILS systems include DME and FS seems to model it correctly. Marker beacons help you know how far you are from the treshold and without DME I think the decision heighth is higher. Sometimes an approach plate uses DME from a nearby VOR (KLAS) and sometimes, especially military bases, there is a separate DME frequency (KRND and KSFK), either of which you can tune on Com2.R-

I agree with you Jeff, I like to see the distances on my approach too. Most airports have a VOR/DME, alternatively you could tune it's frequency in NAV2 and use that as a DME, at least that what I would do.I think you can add a DME with AF2 but I'm pretty much a novice in that area.happy landings

As Ron states, this is modelled pretty realistic in FS. The majority of real world ILS also do not have DME.Wolfgang

See, I really learn something new everyday. I had no idea most ILS systems do not have DME. Think it's about time I start my instrument training. Thanks,Jeff
