December 7, 200817 yr AFAIK the largest default texture res is 1.2m (labeled as 1m in-game). However the roads/rails/coastlines etc can be displayed smaller. Well I have my slider set to 7cm and here's what my ground textures look like. Is this right? They seem so blurry. I believe the road textures have loaded all the way. In the 2nd pic I am about 400 ft AGL. And you can tell the roads are loaded but it looks like the ground textures aren't quite to 1m, maybe they are at 2m. I have GEX and UTX installed. Is it possible something is wrong with how they are "playing" together? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 8, 200817 yr Just pause the game and wait for a while. Watch if any textures continue to load and sharpen up.Ulf B
December 8, 200817 yr Moderator That's a classic example of the blurries, so NO - you're textures are not loaded all the way. With your system they should definately be sharper. GEX and UTX shouldn't cause this. STart by reducing settings, etc and all the regular tweaks to improve blurries.Good luck! RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
December 8, 200817 yr Author The thing is it was paused for like 5 min while I edited (cropped) the pics and uploaded them. Can someone else post a closeup of their textures? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

December 8, 200817 yr Commercial Member Hi there, that can't be a "classic case of the blurries" because the road texture is displaying its highest mipmap (it's very sharp); if it was the blurries the road would be unsharp as well.I suspect the scene would look a lot sharper if you switched to summer. That's because most hard winter textures are derived from summer textures with the help of filters, brushes, etc., in Photoshop. In the process they lose sharpness and detail. To some extent that may even be deliberate since snow-covered landscapes tend to look "softer". You mention you're using GEX? You could post these pictures in the GEX forum over at Flight1 and let Nick or Anthony comment on them.Cheers, Holger
December 8, 200817 yr I am about 400 ft AGL.FYIBefore GEX Eu the 1024 resolution and image used has a limit of about 2300-3000ft to obtain high clarity which is NORMAL for 1.2m resolutionAnd holger is right, winter is designed to be less defined especially when snow is fallingThe digital pixelated look in the snow is default snow masks by Aces, a few of which we fixed in the GEX 1.08 update but were mostly mountain and high terrain masks. With GEX EU we are taking an entire different approach using the same 1.2m 1024 texture size so there is no 4096 performance hit but even 400ft is pushing it.. we are shooting for 500ft clarity in many places when looking out the window of the aircraft with a nominal of 800-1000ft, a far cry from 2500-3000ft with 10x the detail in the imageSo what you are seeing is a combination of elevation, time of year, texture design and yes, it is still possible some hardware too but from what I can see with all things considered it looks about right at 400ft
December 8, 200817 yr Author Thank you, I didn't know hard winter textures were created that way....interesting.Well here's the same area at 2000 AGLI hope that looks ok? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

There is a limit to what can be done at that resolution but we got it looking sweet in most places at 500ft and above
