Can't engage AP

Featured Replies

Hi,wanting to fly the aircraft without FMC I have taken off without priming the Autoflight system (like a CESSNA) and once at 1500 AGL I decided to engage AP by pushing Autoflight but without success. The ATS will work but AP not. I have noted this thing anytime I want to fly without FMC. Is there a particular reason for it?Thanks

It is not a Cessna.
What does it mean? That to have the AP to work I need to fill up the FMC everytime I take off? I don't think so.

Lorenzo,Check at the PFD the color of the "AP OFF" box. If its amber (instead of white) it means that the AP is not available. There are several things that can make the AP not available. If you have not set the FMC so that a V2 speed is calculated (or manually entered) then the AP will not be not available during the take-off phase.

In a word, yes.Unless you're planning to just take off and mess around for a while, the FMC must be programed before flight.
