Google Earth - WX Overlay

Recommended Posts

It's probably been around for a while but I just discovered the WX overlay for GOOGLE Earth. I find GOOGLE Earth really cool and helpful in scenery creation. This is pretty cool. I used it today to help plan a FS9 flight, looking at the significant WX and NOT flying there.Has anyone else used this?Jim

Yep, and it IS cool isn't it. :)Want to make it even way COOLER? Go here: http://codexweb.atomictag.com/fplan.aspxUpload your FS2004 or FSX flight plan, and it will overlay your actual route and waypoints over Google Earth, along with the current weather. This way you can see exactly how your route and potential weather will interact.
So, what are we supposed to do with the .kml file once we've got it? There's nothing on the page resembling "instructions..." :(EDIT: Never mind. I figured out that I must install "Google Earth" first....

One of the coolest things I have recently discovered is my electronic logbook (logbook pro) and its side program (route browser) will import all of my last 20 years of flights into google earth as a .kml file-categorize them by aircraft type and route-and I can click on each one and watch every flight re-flown virtually in google.Just amazing stuff!
