The Old SimConnect not found trick

Featured Replies

Hi Rob,We are sorry for the problem and I will share what I know about this issue. You may or may not agree with what I will say.1. SimConnect is a system set up by Microsoft to allow 3rd party software to communicate with FSX.2. Part of SimConnect is installed in your FSX directory and part of it is actually installed in your Windows directory.3. ASX looks for SP1 SimConnect to be properly installed and ASA looks for either SP1 or SP2 SimConnect to be properly installed.4. If Simconnect SP2 wasn't/isn't on your Add/Remove Software listing, then it is not properly installed. This does not mean to uninstall FSX, because even uninstalling FSX does not clean out the SimConnect files from the Windows directory.5. That is why in our documentation for ASX and for ASA we tell users that if you are having SimConnect issues to please work with Microsoft to get things installed correctly.6. If they suggest to uninstall FSX that is their suggestion. We have never made that suggestion to anyone.7. There may be nothing wrong with your FSX, but just your SimConnect so that is where you should look.8. The SDK have nothing to do with this issue.9. I suggest getting a hold of Microsoft and working with them to get SP2 and SP1 properly uninstalled from your system. Thanks,

Hello,Simconnect is installed. Sp2 Instantiated in the log verifies this. Why is there no communication? This is odd. Jim has attempted to troubleshoot this with you for a while in hopes to solve this but this is a non-standard situtation. Perhaps I can offer some help, but as mentioned you may need to contact MS support for help with this.Ideas:1) You have either modified the simconnect.cfg/xml files (located elsewhere than HiFi folders) which is used for FSX simconnect configuration or an add-on has modified these files, which are preventing local communication (the OP issue sounds very similar to this, since networked configuration worked but not local) - Solution: Remove the simconnect.cfg/xml files which are located in My Documents folder and AppData\Microsoft\FSX folders respectively.2) Your FSX/simconnect installation is significantly problematic to require a full uninstall/reinstall of everything.3) If you have FSX deluxe, install the SDK, install the SP2 SDK update (fsinsider), and then run the simconnect.msi file (see the simconnect troubleshooting chapter in ASA documentation for the specifics). You can email me directly at damianc AT hifisim.com for further direct developer assistance.Best,

Hi Damian,Thanks mate, and you too Jim, for sticking with me.It works now!!! Idea 1 did the trick. After the first install, and it didn't work, I started doing things discribed in the manual, manually editing and moving simconect.xml and cfg files. It seems that was not necessary.Anyway, I will start exploring the posibilities of ASA now. Thanks again!!.Cheers, Rob
