February 23, 200917 yr I realize this is kind of an off the wall question, but is it possible to use a real Garmin 696 or 496 with FSX?
February 23, 200917 yr Moderator Yes, as long as you install the GPSout utility that Pete Dowson has available, and you have the necessary cable to connect between your computer and the Garmin. See http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html for details on GPSout. Also, use "GPSout" as the key in a google search to read more about it... Fr. A registered version of FSUIPC4 is what is needed for FSX as it includes all of the GPSout functions.Todd

I am really just looking for a way to control the GPS with knobs. The best solution appears to be the product from Elite simulations (a GNS430 module), but it does not support FSX yet.
February 24, 200917 yr Hi,No, GPSOut is not 2 way. There may be other products out there that are two way, but not using GPSOut.
